So for now, tentatively ignore my earlier poll (involving Jermain Taylor vs. Ishe Smith happening on Saturday of next week, http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=434206) - although don't rule it out entirely just yet, either.

It looks like the more likely scenario is indeed now that Taylor will face tomato can Raul Munoz on the upcoming October 12th ShoBox: The New Generation, while Ishe Smith will settle a long-standing grudge (drawn out over social media) with erstwhile fellow Floyd Mayweather Jr. camp member Omar Henry a month later on a November 16th edition of ShoBox.

Contracts need to be finalized, but apparently Henry asked for it and all other parties (Mayweather Promotions on behalf of Smith, and network folk at Showtime) were quick to affirm consent.

    Experience vs. youth...

    Skill vs. brawn...

    Humility vs. brashness...

Hard work & dedication vs. athleticism and diversification (cross-training in MMA)...

West coast (somewhat inland) vs. East coast (also somewhat inland)

If it comes to fruition, who shuts the other up? :think

    :thumbsup

I'm imagining in my head a sort of melding between Smith vs. Garcia, and the infamous Mayweather vs. Grey Shirt live-streamed sparring session...and I'm loving it. :nod

    He wants to.

He's mad as hell. They really dislike each other, it isn't just hype.

Is the dislike due to the sparring sessions when Floyd was training for Cotto?

Anyways, Ishe tends to lose against skilled, boxer-puncher prospects and I don't see this one going any differently.

    Henry runs his mouth frequently.

He also threatened to quit boxing and jump ship to MMA a while back (I forget why, maybe disgruntled with his management), as though anyone cared what some prospect yet to prove himself against anybody did.

Smith also claims that he talks **** about other fighters, ie tried to downplay how well PBF did against him in sparring (before that one session got streamed to the whole world), accuses Canelo of ducking him (Canelo likely doesn't even know who Henry is), and has "disrespected boxing fans" (not sure how or when).

Henry was also a very frustrating prospect, slow to learn and progress.

Early on people had him pegged as "Super Cotto" but he wound up falling a great deal short of even "poor man's Cotto".

He is also one of those dudes who barks when throwing punches. (like Antwone Smith, Juan Diaz, and the Peterson brothers)

I remember the MMA thing and also Ishe claiming that Floyd almost knocked him out one session, which Henry denied.

Anyways, sounds like this one will happen and should be interesting.

The latest scuttlebutt is that Henry is stalling to ink his name. :conf

Ishe is one of my fave unappreciated fighters. When he's on point he's damn good. I think he's too tricky for Henry...way too big of a step up imo. If Henry wins he's legit. Great fight

Ishe schools him. Nothing about Henry stands out, he seems way too average at just about everything.

Henry is getting a good test here. Hype or not will be found out here. And I say he'll win but don't count on it Shuga Shay Ishe is a decent fighter.
