Saw Nigel Collins article in BN today and thought i'd put out the question here.

Was this interview over the top or could you feel his pain?.
    =[yt]mXn_HCCPLWk[/yt]

For me i can see what Collins means when he looks at the past and even guys today who have there own problems like Guerrero, Edwin Rodriguez etc. But as much as i'm a fan of Macho behaviour these guys are human beings and do have emotions. I don't want to see every fighter crying but i can let Ishe off on this one.

I get fed up with the HBO and even Sky promos with ''i've had such a hard life, i've come from nothing, I made it! so can you.'' stuff that leads ups into the fights. Boxing is a predominatley working class sport, A large majority of fighters have come from broken homes or bad area's or disadvantaged backgrounds and even overcome illnesses. I do feel that stuff gets overplayed and is boring.

Maybe cos i remember him from the Contender and known he's a good fighter and can understand how hard the road to the title was. He did blubber like a baby no doubts but if he really came that close to finishing it i got to respect the journey to the title.

What's your thoughts? Is crying in boxing a no no in your opinion? And was Smith embarrassing or could you accept it?.

It was a bit much but whatever i felt for the guy.
Depending on the situation and the background it can be warranted and i think in case of Ishe its fine.

You could actually see it during the fight... he was fighting against more than just K9.
At the start it looked like he was going to be too negative and not grab his chance like always.

But then as the rounds progressed you could see this new sense of urgency and him really trying to grab the opportunity.
At some points he was expending so much energy working way too hard and almost gassing himself out a few times.

Not just from the punch output but also the sheer weight of the moment and the nerves that came with it.
It was his 1 shot and he took it, and survived the final round to reap the rewards.

So whatever let the man cry... he earned it... and now hopefully he can make enough money to provide for his family.

Anybody wanting to hate on it or have a go - gwan and get yourself a world title first.

He did go through a hard road (not that such things should be front and center in boxing programming as Skills mentioned, and it's usually the network that shoves it down our throats rather than boxers themselves...) and obviously kept a lot of emotion bottled up for a long time. It's his own damn prerogative to release it all in a moment of joy after realizing his dream.

    **** haters.

He is entitled to do what he wants, I read the interview in BN last night and it came across as a poor piece which was telling Ishe what he can and can't do, I stopped reading the last few words

:rofl First time I've watched that. Even Jim was laughing.

But yeah, as for whether a boxer is allowed to cry or not, of course he can. He's the one who's put in the work.

You cant always control your emotions especially when it is something you have sacrificed your life to achieve so I would never criticise anyone who is emotional after such a crowning moment bit of a cheap shot.

I do agree that it does get tiresome when we constantly here the stories of Peterson living on the streets and others who have similar stories it gets like xfactor, they have had hard lives and struggles which have been highlighted but they get mentioned in every fight they have! Even the boxers concerned are probably sick of it

Cant knock the dude. He came from the gutter man, knocked down so many times and came back. Those who criticise obviously haven't been through **** in there life. The bubbling was a bit cringe-worthy but that was his pure raw emotion coming out after years of **** man.
