Mustaki vs. Pierre is the co-main event, next.

It seems they reshuffled the running order, and had alternating boxing & MMA bouts.

John Maxwell "Mad Max" Mustaki vs. Socrates Pierre, 3x5" rounds @ "lightweight"

 

Both are six feet; Pierre has a 5" reach advantage. He's 9-3 in pro MMA, and Mustaki is 5-2.

 

After this MMA fight. (scheduled for the standard non-championship length; 3 five-minute rounds. So at the most twenty minutes; if there's a sub or KO will be over sooner)

 

Round 1

Mustaki is circling and rolling left to dodge the lead right of Pierre, taking it on his outer bicep, skidding away or bouncing off his neck, dipping the head low. Mustaki steps forward and flurries into the air in front of Pierre's face, then steps laterally and tries a light body jab. Pierre kicks his knee and makes it buckle, knocks him off balance. Mustaki recovers and starts to circle in the middle of the ring, turning Pierre and flashing quick double and triple jabs softly in his face. Pierre grabs Mustaki's left foot and kicks him in the hip. Lunging overhand right by Mustaki, blocked. Pierre counters with an uppercut. Lead right on the chest by Pierre at medium-long range. Mustaki doubles a high jab, shotgunning at the face stepping forward and Pierre smoothly leans over and plugs a counter right on the body. Mustaki tries some low right kicks at the shin. Pierre twists and pivots to limit their effect. WILD slashing right hand by Pierre, just missing as Mustaki quickly backpedals. Another low right shin-kick attempt by Mustaki, caught by Pierre as he lifts his foot to intercept. Mustaki briefly looked to be trying for a takedown after flurrying in Pierre's face but thought better of it as Pierre scrambled and proved ready. BIG LEFT HOOK BY MUSTAKI!!! PIERRE DROPPED!!!

KO1!!

 

I actually was about to award Pierre that round, until Mustaki exploded on him in the final seconds.

 

Commentator thinks it was a bit of a quick stoppage. Kinda. Pierre was hurt, and in boxing a guy on the ground turning his back on his opponent would be interpreted by most refs as submissive, there is the argument that Pierre was maneuvering to grab Mustaki's leg for a TD. Only couple of follow-up punches from Mustaki landed once Pierre went down, and they weren't all that hard. Judgment call.

 

Hurry up and microwave that popcorn, the co-main event didn't last very long..

 

Mustaki calls out the world (he wants to graduate into the Octagon soon).

His primary discipline is jiu-jitsu but he trains boxing with Roy Jones Sr.

Can sort of see that in his style. That was a RJJ-esque gazelle hook that got him the W.
