Isamel Laguna dethrone the great Carlos Ortiz in winning the LW Lienal Title in 65,when lineality still ment something...at 21 years old....from 65 to his retiremenmt in 71 he fought the best of the best in the divison including some HOF and ATG's ...Nico Loche, Flash Elorde, three fights with Carlos Ortiz, hard hitting Carlos Hernandez, good puncher in Mando Ramos, and stylist/boxedr Ken Buchanan for 30 rounds, which could have gone either fighter...specially the second fight....hard fough fight and a hard fighter, great jab and body attack..could box and had some pop..the amazing thingis that after losing his title in 65 in the rematch against Carlos Oritz he regained it 5 years later, 5 long years by Koing Mando Ramos....

That is an amazing feast to accomplish at this weight class...

Ismael Laguna had a good of a resume as any of his contenporaries in the division, yet ofter over looked...

They showed him and Buchanan other day on television. I thought Buchanan won easy, especially considereing second half of fight. He was good champ, and a big hero in Panama, especially before Duran came along.

I have both fights and in all honesty, in the first one Ken came strong in the last three rounds winning a close fight but the 2nd one...everytime I watch the fight, I have it a draw, it was ahard fought fight and the best blows of the fight came at the hand of Laguna..I will say theres very LW that had the resume he had....
