I like Ismael in this one, Jim's style was almost a painting-by-numbers style, with his Jab the brush, having to be established before he could build on this foundation with a careful application of heavier shots, a wearing down process that subdued the third and second class practitioner fairly promptly, or the flash and dash novice, it could be a different story with first class opporsition, I would of liked to have seen Jim in with more top class opporsition, but Buchanan and Arguello was Jim's zenith in quality and he boxed well in losing, ( perhaps Alexis let it go to points and was just happy with the win ?) Jim's steadyness was hard to shift if you didnt / couldnt disrupt him early or make an impression before half way, but he was not on a par with say Carlos Ortiz, few were, Laguna would certainly be comforted by this, if we were to say the Watt who beat Howard Davis against the Laguna who lost to Buchanan in their MSG Return, then i think i would favour Ismeal, He would Attack Jim were Davis did not, his Mobility mixed with flurries would i think throw Jim Off, And if Ismeal starts slippng that Jab Then Jim's in a Jam, A close but clear points win for Mr Laguna i think.
I admire Watt for many reasons, but I give an edge to Laguna in this one... Watt's chances increase significantly if the fight is held at the Kelvin Hall though, he was very tough to beat there.
What could make an out of sorts Laguna look bad, as he could with many more talented outside boxer-types if they don't bring their A game, but he would get widely beaten by Ismael at his best.
