It is understandable. For the same reasons he fought Hatton rather than Cotto; 'easy money'. Although Baldomir was no money maker, it allowed Floyd to have something to take into the inevitable Judah match (as Judah had just lost to Baldomir and needed time to re-establish himself in order for Floyd to make money out of beating him fairly easily)

Two years ago Casamayor got a laughable gift against a journeyman, but 3 years ago he's so much better right? Yeah Mayweather is the one that ducks all of the other fighters right?

He chose to fight Hatton cuz hatton wanted Mayweather and kept running his mouth, which resulted in him getting ko'd.

It should be held against mayweather for not fighting a Large guy like Margarito, but Whitaker gets away without fighting Terry Norris and handpicking Vazquez instead.

Whitaker spent 2 consecutive years fighting journeyman contenders like Glen Jacobs, Jake Rodriguez, Wilfredo Rivera and Hurtado. He was doing this when he was called 'no. 1 pound for pound'. If Mayweather chose to fight those guys for 2 straight years while Number 1 p4p, he would have got trashed on forums.

I'm not sure about that at all, i certainly think that cotto is a better fighter than hatton and thought so at the time but he never proved he was top level until the mosely fight IMO which was about a month before hatton v PBF.

Cotto career up to the point of mosely may have been less impressive than hatton's, his only major win at the time was against judah and he struggled as much against torres as hatton did against collazo and didn't look particurly brilliant against urkal

Some of Floyd's comp really isn't much better than that IMO (N'Dou/Mitchell) and the fact is that Pea DID take on challenges which makes him ranked much higher.

You can't have a superfight every fight in a row. The fact is Pea did fight Chavez, did take on very challenging fights like McGirt, and did fight guys like Trinidad and De La Hoya when they were at the peak of their powers and he was clearly slipping. That's what makes him a far superior fighter to Floyd resume wise (thus far and most probably indefinitely) as well as his far superior skillset, ring generalship, movement/jab/in-fighting skills/combinations etc etc

Fair enough comments. But Margarito vs Williams was only a few months before the Hatton fight; Why hadn't Floyd scheduled to fight Marg before Hatton (and therefoe before Margarito had lost and was still considered the most dangerous man in the division)

Yeah but what you fail to realise is that Mayweather isn't even done yet, he has 2-3 years left in him. Ricky Hatton was one of the guys that Mayweather was supposed to fight, but when he easily beats him, the forum changes thier opinion and says he was an 'easy money fight', lol.

If memory serves me right williams v margarito was in june or july 07 and PBF v oscar was in may so i'm guessing the fight was already signed before floyd fought oscar

Vazquez was a virtual unknown to american audiences, no one knew who the hell he was. If he wanted a real fight at 154, he would have fought Norris, he knew he didn't belong there. When has Vazquez ever been mentioned as a top 10 p4p fighter at any point in his career?

I couldn't give 2 ****s how well known he was america, i'll judge him on his skills as a fighter not his popularity ratings. As for him fighting norris, well norris was coming off the back off 2 dq against santana at the time so he had other things to take care off
