I wonder if anyone remembers that when the decision was announced in Duran's favor after beating Edwin Viruet how Duran faked congratulaing Edwin's effort and then slapped his brother Adolpho in the face?
I'd pick Duran, Laguna has a shot against the earlier 70s version but I dont think he matches up well stylistically either
Bump Would have been a fine fight between 2 of Panama’s best at their peaks. I’ll take Duran by decision in a fight similar to the first Leonard fight.
Speed and movement always frustrated prime WBA Lightweight Champion Roberto Duran, like Lou Bizzaro on May 23 1976, TKO 14 and Vilomar Fernandez, on Jan 29 1977, TKO 13. But Duran would eventually break down Ismael Laguna with hard body shots taking away his mobility, he would also cut off the ring, forcing exchanges. Hands Of Stone Roberto Duran, TKO 13. Duran did the same to Ken Buchanan, on June 26 1972, TKO 13.
