    Sillakh beat the top ranked Cuban Amatuer and Olympian Yordanis Despaigne 9 rounds to 1 and knocked him down BTW. The fight was on FNF's with Teddy Atlas.

    I hope he returns stronger and better cause he seems like a cool guy, but it seems like his chin will forever prevent him from becoming a top fighter.

    I know dunno if despaigne was the same guy tho, he really lost form after he moved from cuba! but skillakh has beautiful footwork just not great punching technique!! like most of the top cubans have!

    Sillakh said he always did very well against Cubans in the amateurs. He beat at least three of them and none of his listed loses with the exception of a WO (walkover) in the final of a tournament came against Cuban fighters either.

    In addition to beating former top amateur Despaigne silly he also be big punching undefeated Cuban CW Yunier Dorticos 15-0 (15). Dorticus holds amateur victories over the likes of Mike Perez, Erislandy Savon, and unbeaten Colombian LH Eleider Alvarez. I couldn't find any details regarding that bout other than the result though.

    He beat another Cuban called Rodriguez in the World Cadet championships in 2001.

    He also knocked out a Cuban called Dairon Lester Jimenez in 2 rounds in a Ukraine vs. Cuba dual in 2007.

    Very nice KO this.

    Based on Kovalev, come off it how many LHW would be able to take those shots from the Krusher, i mean Cleverly has a good chin but he couldn't take them. it's just that Kovalev is such a monster puncher

    It really might be. Wasn't he badly wobbled by a no-named opponent before Grachev stopped him? And Kovalev knocked him out with practically the first solid head shots he landed.

    Shame too, because he's got talent. Then again, it's a similar story with Khan.

    He's so tall, lean and skinny, very similar to Khan really. He can't afford to take a single power shot it seems.

    Yeh its a very good record although hes been koed by two russians and beaten by andy lee who was beaten easily by despaigne in the ams!!

    he was also on steroids for many years apparently so its hard to know how credible some of those wins are,


    aswell hes got awkward punches!!

    Yes he lost to Lee (by 2 points) but it still doesn't change the fact he's 4-0 against Cuban fighters and to the best of my knowledge has never lost to one. lol.

    Those two KO loses came at the iron fists of two of the most thunderous punching LHWs in recent memory. Both Beterbiev and Kovalev are seriously heavy hitters.

    Sillakh also beat Beterbiev once too (when they were much younger) and he also beat lots of other good fighters in the amateurs as well, including Olympic medalists and Word amateur champions. Beterbiev beat Cubans as I'm sure some of Sillakh's other amateur victims did too, one of which Dmitry Chudinov (RSC0S 2) who holds 2 victories over Dorticos one via (RSCO 2).

    I do agree about the steroids though. But it's not like many of the fans of these steroid cheats actually give a fcuk about their idols cheating.

    Sillakh might not have a good chin but he was an excellent amateur and is extremely talented. There's a reason why so many were proclaiming him the heir apparent to the LH throne. Be funny looking through all those old threads about him on here now as there was a lot of people who were extremely high on him, including fighters. James Toney said Sillakh was the best LHW in the world, period. And I think Jean Pascal amongst others wasn't too keen on facing him by all accounts. Kovalev wanted Sillakh back then though.

    I remember all those rumours of Sillakh bashing up everyone in gyms when he relocated to the US. I think he said he did very well against Andre Ward, hurting him once. I'm not 100% sure about that though.

    I could understand if you said you hope to see him return because you want to watch him develop his considerable in-ring talent, but a cool guy?

    Sergey Kovalev (among the nicest guys in boxing) thinks he is a complete ***** and had been dreaming of knocking his coc-ky loudmouthed ass out for years.

    He also reportedly ended his contract with Roy Jones' Square Ring Promotions on bad terms. Everything I have ever heard of him from other pros, combined with interviews with him and his generally excess of swagger in the way he carries himself, screams "egomaniac diva" to me. :conf

    ...and not the Floyd Mayweather, playing-a-role type - but a real, dyed in the wool, thinks-his-****-don't-stink egomaniac diva.
