Sillakh will probably become a beltholder at 175 in the next 12 months, I have only seen him fight 4 times but he seems very talented and I think he could be the future of the 175 division. He is fast, good movement, good jab, about 6.3 tall, 80 reach, his power is good as well. I hope to se him get a title shot after beating Chris Henry in November. If ward beats froch he becomes the #1 guy at 168 with a few challnges remaining (e.g. bute) but in about 2 years its very possible that he makes a move to 175 and faces Sillakh who could be the #1 guy there by then. You think black Russian has the potential to beat Andre Ward at 175 in a few years? Or does Ward school this guy?
It's possible, I suppose. We have yet to see Ward fight someone awkward and slick, like Sillakh, Dirrell or Campillo. I suspect that someone with that style would give Ward a tougher night than usual, but Ward's superior ring intellect makes up for a lot of what he lacks in pure talent.
I think if everything goes like it should, boxing fans will want to see this fight eventually. If I had to guess I would say it ends up like jones vs hopkins 1, but its way to early to think it will end up like that though.
I only saw him 4 times too and I gotta admit I am a fan! He has potential. But how would he fight Ward? He is a SMW. Why Ward?
Because ward along with donaire is predicted to become p4p #1 in a few years, if that happens it means he will be the main guy at 168 and has beaten the top guys if Sillakh become something similair at 175 I could see the fight happening, both are very skilled imo. Allthough a lot can happen of course.
Sillakh is the goods. Period. End of story. One of the stiffest jabs in the business right now, combine that with a great amateur background, speed, good movement, and good power. My only question is what happens when he takes a good shot but with how good he is we may not see that happen for a while.
Ward has definitely said he will move up to LHW eventually. Of course I assume this means if he continues to be successful and has beaten everyone at SMW(Froch, Bute, Kessler again, maybe). But at the same time, maybe he loses to someone at SMW, and moves up using weight drained as an excuse. But for whatever reason, he said he would like to try at LHW, eventually.
And how he looks against a real skilled boxer. He did look good against that Cuban recently(can't recall name). He beat the Cuban up pretty good, that day. I think Ward probably has better defense than the Cuban showed that fight. Ward's probably also a little quicker.
I don't think Silakh is on Ward's level. I think he is good and above average, but not an elite. I find him lacking something when I've caught him on ESPN or Fox Sports.
