Isn't it comical that Briggs got a title shot and Haye didn't?

Haye must've been spinning in circles upon finding out Briggs got the title shot against Browne and not him. He was probably thinking, that's my title shot! Hell, If I was Haye, I would be drowning my sorrows in a bar right about now.

Think about it, all this time, Haye avoided threats that could derail his chance at a title shot and even avoided Shannon Briggs (who chased Haye for a fight) since his comeback but now in a twist of events, it's Briggs that got the title shot and not Haye. You can't make this stuff up, man. This could be the making of a sitcom on NBC or something, lol.

Honestly, I'm surprised myself that Briggs got the title shot and not Haye, I thought for sure with money & typical boxing scheming corruption that David Haye would fight Lucas Browne for the WBA title.

    Your thoughts?

it's actually sad that current Briggs is ranked by any sanctioning body

Think the WBA just wanted to give Browne a winnable fight to 'rectify' all the drug testing / ban /stripping issues from the last fight. A bit like a ref in a football match knowing he has given a soft penalty or sending off, so looks to do the same for the other side to even it out a bit.

Whether Browne was in fact innocent though, after the further disclose of drug test failures with his former training mates, Hughie and Tyson Fury, is another matter.

Yeah it is funny. Haye should have kept his word and fought Briggs when he said he was going to, now he's gotta wait and most likely he'll end up having to fight him anyways, just to pick up the regular title and become a mando. Lol

Firstly, Briggs wanted more than Haye could offer to get KO'd and retired.

Secondly, why would he want to wait and be a mando for the reg belt when he is already mando for the WBO with a very winnable fight against either Parker of Ruiz?

Both don't deserve it, and both would be equally bad choices for me.

Luckily it's for the WBA "not actually a real championship, but I can pretend it is" Heavyweight belt.

Okay, either way if Haye fights Ustinov it will be for the "interim" title, while Briggs gets to fight for the "Regular" title so still, Karma is a *****. He should have kept his word and fight Briggs.

Why would Haye want the regular belt? You get removed from all rankings so it would rule out a money spinner against Joshua.

Why would he want to fight Ustinov for an interim title? If he wins he would forfeit has rankings with the other boards, therefore giving up his mando for the WBO title, and be held to ransom for 18 months or more before he gets a crack at any WBA belt? That would literally make zero sense.
