Isn't it required for WBC and WBO champions to defend their belts twice a year?

Why are Manny and Floyd still titleholders? Isn't Floyd going to have his belt stripped since he isn't going to be defending that belt AT ALL this year?

The sanctioning bodies allow for a variety of exceptions when they know which side their bread is buttered on. It's the majesty of historical pattern. If they never wanted you as champion to begin with, they jump on their own rules fast and hard, but if they benefit from having you then circumstances make the rules bend until they sometimes break. It's tradition. It's business. It's ABC partying at its best.

DLH didn't defend his WBC Super Welterweight Title over 2 years before he lost it to Floyd. These sanction bodies have no rules and regulations.

Usually you have to take a mandatory and then if possible you can choose your own opponent next time and then back to mandatory...... not always possible though
