Isn't it sad kovalev fans are bragging about possibly beating a 49 year old

I would have him ranked 4th behind Kovalev, Stevenson and Dawson. I'd still favour Dawson to beat him, he isn't shot like some have said he just got beat by better fighters. It's ludicrous to think Dawson is shot and Hopkins is still going strong.

I'm a big Hopkins fan and I agree, if you are competing at this level you need to face the best no matter your age being 49 doesn't mean you should get a pass to cherry pick. I expect to see Hopkins face Stevenson.

Hopkins posted to Stevenson that he is headed to canada to make the fight.

Imagine if Hopkins were 3 years younger and beat Stevenson, then Kovalev, then faced Ward for the ultimate accolades?

Kovalev fans can spend days and nights bragging about kingdom come but they are not getting Hopkins or Stevenson who are fighting each other and on Showtime for the lineal unified Light Championship. If it comes down to Ward, we all know deep down that Ward whips that ass but I rather watch a legit LHWt make a comeback and beat Kovalev by a wide UD, someone like Chad Dawson.

I didn't mean he'd beat Ward. Just young enough to beat Stevenson and Kovalev, then maybe lose to Ward.
If Hopkins faces Stevenson now he'd firmly be 50. If he wins and faces Kovalev, he'll be going on 51.

    fair call
I understand why people hype a puncher, but most of the time that hype dies as fast as it came
if anyone is hard to look convincing against (even at his age), it's hopkins

Kovalev would brutally knock out Dawson. I would worry for Dawson's health if that fight ever happened.

Kovalev is a horrible match-up for chinny fighters. You saw what he did to Sillakh.

    100 pct agree

and I would tell Bhop to stay away from Adonis. Pascal did knocked him down twice , I cant imagine what Adonis would do to him.

I do not compare Dawson to Sillakh even though the black russian won the first round against Krusher. Then, I would stop worrying about possible Kovalev's opponent's healths or else you are surely have to compete north of the 175 pound border.

Dawson took Adonis lightly and that's why he got caught. We all know Chad is acomplished and he would be a horrible big, slick, fast combination and Sharp shooter against the powerhouse Kovalev but first Chad has to overcome the setbacks of having been dropped and flattened like that by Adonis and then I clearly see a UD for Dawson against Kovalev. Cause you know that Adonis and Bernard are not caring what Sergey does or feels like or thinks.

If Dawson had any intention of competing again, he's already have a Ysaf Mack or Cornelius White scheduled, and would would have had a win over Tommy Karpency or Jeff Lacy.

I don't think Chad is shot myself.....he just doesnt have the chin to back up his style, and now that his legs are shot/due to overtraining for the Ward fight, I don't know if he'll be able to compete at the top 10 level he had done for so long.
I'd like to see him return, but jumping right back into the ring with someone like KOvalev, or even Bute would be a disaster for the once bad Chad. :think
