A friend brought this to my attention the other day. Alot of polls are showing many people believing Manny Pacquiao would beat Floyd. But isn't it funny that if they ever do fight then it would be guaranteed that Floyd would be the betting favorite. Explain that one. :huh

    I'm not to sure anymore...
With the purist's Mayweather should still be the Fav, But overall?
(I think the odds might be alot closer than say earlier in 2010)

The general public just go based off what they hear on TV and also people have short term memory. After the Mosley fight, the polls would be a lot closer

Odds might be closer but he'll still definitely be the favorite. And it's simple, betting odds are not passionate fans. They're in the business of being right, not picking who they want.

A betting line is made to get the most even amount of action on both sides.
Manny in the last month the line was up moved from a 2-1 dog to just a 1.25 dog. If they were to fight in 2011 it would be a pick em fight and Manny would end up being a slight favorite before the fight.

Mayweather will start out as the betting fav.
Money placed on Pacquiao will make him the fav by fight time.

because majority of the fans are casual fans not boxing hardcore fans i think.

it's all speculations now, but when the fight really do happen, you'll see that floyd will be the favorite.

The true odds on this fight should be Floyd a +250. He will basically have to go 12 rounds to win by decision. Anybody at 147 who has to go 12 rounds with Manny to win does not have a good chance.

I would LOVE for Floyd to be the underdog in this fight lol. I can already smell the $$$$$$$ when we hear " AND STILL UNDEFEATED!!!!" LOL. When this fight happens Floyd whooping Manny's ass is going to pay my rent for a year lol.

Betting odds are actually in the business of putting out a line that'll make the house the most money.

    Explanation:

Polls: = public, inclusing casual fans and those who are not willing to bet.

Betting odds: = hardcore gamblers, some could be hardcore boxing fans.

Vegas will have Floyd as the favourite. Believe it.

What people are voting on a poll on the Internet is less than irrelevant.
