Was thinking about this today. I know they fought at there best a few pounds apart but still seemed too interesting of a fight not to put out there. So hypothetically 15 rounds prime for prime how does this play out for you.
Well, there's a quick fix to the weight, make it same day weigh-ins and they're both the same size. I think we're looking at 15 rounds of one of the greatest fights ever. Both exceptionally tough, exceptionally well conditioned and neither could be accused as a stylist.* I reckon Vásquez has a bit more about him, and his more powerful shots would help contribute to winning more rounds. Villasana would make it dirty, and possibly lose points, but he's gonna throw everything right back at Izzy. It's hard for me to pick a real deciding factor, but I think Vásquez's power gives him an edge. * @Jel's phrase, but I like it. This is an awesome hypothetical Bob, I'm going back and forth just writing the post. Thanks!
I think Villasana takes this. Love Vasquez, but power is what bailed him out and Villasana's chin was insane, he's not getting to that guy. Villasana by late stoppage on cuts or by decision.
Villasana by stoppage. He was bigger, a bigger puncher, and a lot more durable. Can ANYBODY picture Vasquez hanging with Fenech, Nelson, and Esparragoza? Cause I see him getting sent to the hospital by all three.
