why would Vasquez be fighting against a small man? He should face Juanma or Gerry.

Come on man. Vasquez is a huge puncher and he has an iron chin.
This fight wouldnt go past 4 rounds.
Whenever Arce landed clean shots Darchynian would back off and Arce has no where near the power Vasquez has. Also Vasquez throws very precise shots.

Because it would be a bigger money fight than Juanma or Gerry. Duh.

vazquez will punish the **** out of darchinyan. that would be fun to watch, darchi not hurting vazquez, then vazquez dishing his combos.. a one sided fight

vic has sparred with him before so i think he would know what he is up against. if he thought he had no chance of winning then he wouldn't be asking for this fight to happen.

just maybe vic knows a little more than the rest of us huh.

i see no reason at all why vic wouldn't be competitive at a higher weight, and who knows he may even have more improvement in him too.

Izzy's lingering eye injury might prevent this fight from happening. He has had two surgeries on his eye since the Marquez fight. Hopefully he gets better, but he might be on the shelf for a long time.

He only really beat Larios to get such high praise coming into the Marquez fight..Larios was coming off a couple of T.V fights in a row against an old McCullough, the action packed first fight with Wayne some how warranted a rematch in which Larios was quite dominant. How that gets Oscar borderline top 10 p4p is beyond me.
Izzy beat him which was a bit of an upset and all of sudden he is considered elite, even though his actual reign at the weight was short and thin on good names at the time.

The Gonzalez fight was a good win but much like with Oscar I think it was the drama of that fight which had everyone paying attention.

I have argued in other threads recently that Izzy has the resume to back up being a p4p fighter but I think he is no better than he was when he struggled past Guerrero.
I just dont rate him that highly H2H compared to other elite fighters and thats the point..Its not absolutely out of the question Vic could win this, however unlikely it may be, because Izzy certainly has his flaws. Good fighter but not of the calibre of his p4p peers..not even close in some cases.

He beat Larios, the dominating 122 champion to win their not-that-popular trilogy, then beat the 2nd best BW in Gonzalez who became no1 after Marquez moved up, then won the historical trilogy vs. future HOF-er Rafa Marquez. That's a pretty damn good run. If he did that with mediocre or not elite skills or whatever you are talking about, that's even better for him. But in reality, Vazquez has very good skills, not being a defensive genious like Mayweather doesn't mean he can't box well. He has outstanding skills in other areas, and that made him a P4P-er.

In p4p h2h ability, I rate Vazquez and Cotto extremely close (and both quite high).

the results from a fight is really what matters to me, not the supposed "flaws" a fighter shows. rafa marquez is one of the most skillful fighters in the world along with his bro and both have very good underrated power, and izzy has 2 victories against him. tony zale and roberto duran at one point weren't considered very skillful, but they got the job done.

izzy is definitely up there with the cotto's and pacquiao's and earned his top 10 status the hard way. he's the top 122lber and that he's not in the same field as the rest seems alittle biased to me. unless he gets dethroned by juanma or caballero, but he's head and shoulders with any top 10 p4p
