Isreal Vasquez is one of my favorite fighters and I like Jorge Linares too, but how do you think a matchup between the two would turn out? Their was talks between the two fighting and some people think Linares would win. I think Linares would turn out to be a great fighter, but I don't think he's ready for someone like Vasqeuz. But I do understand if some people think Linares would win, since he's bigger, but his chin has never been tested, and Vasquez is a hard hitter. If Vasquez were to win his match against Marquez, would it be wise for Vasquez to move up in weight and challenge Linares or some of the other top featherweight fighters?

This is a tough match for Vasquez. He is an excellent fighter, but after the Marquez trilogy he will have taken a pretty good beating win or lose.

Linares is a massively talented young fighter that he can bully and beat up for a while but I think he ends of getting KOed in the later rounds. A great test for both fighters though.

I think Linares isn't ready for Vasquez, but Vasquez could be going out from his upcoming WAR

I dont know, linares is so impressive but we need to see more of him.
If I had to bet right now I would put my money on linares the kid just impresses the hell out of me with his style and technique......

The only questions I have of linares are the intangibles of which I know Vasquez has plenty of and then some. Still if I had to bet right I got a hunch linares is something special.....

I think Linares can keep this one at a distance and outpoint Vasquez

Linares toasts his ass. He was in with a seasoned pro in Larios and showed great patience and maturity to break Larios down. He will do the same with Vazquez.

    This fight has two scenarios...

    1) Like Jhonny Gonzalez, Linares is a rangy boxer with long arms and fluid combinations from the outside. Gonzalez floored Vazquez twice and had him hurt on several occasions before getting stopped. Linares is naturally bigger and stronger than Gonzalez, so he could keep Vazquez at a distance, keep him at the end of his punches, and outbox him to a decision or a late round stoppage.

    2) Vazquez's pressure and power take Linares out of his comfort zone as he has not faced somebody as good as Vazquez. He is drawn into a war where and cannot deal with the pressure and power of Vazquez, getting worn down and stopped.

Right now, I think Vazquez beats him. But after this trilogy with Marquez, I'm not sure how much he'll have left.

wow, Jumping to quick conclusions so fast are ya???

This would be a war and is a toss up for sure, No one hits harder than Vazquez at 122lbs. I think they both give each other hell and I couldn't really pick a winner.

I don't think Linares could stand up to that Left Hook

Yeah I have encountered that article that says there's a talk between the two camps for the fight. A good one.

I'm picking Vasquez on this . . . if it happens.

Linarez is still a prospect for me while Vasquez has proven himself to be a very tough competitor. Experience wise Vasquez has the advantage.

Vasquez is a hell of a puncher.
I have noticed in his two fights with Rafa that he didnt ever seem like he was in serious trouble and he took plenty of flush shots from Marquez. His chin is very well proven.
Linares i have only seen youtube clips and seems to get him quite a bit.
I dont know if he will take Vasquez's punches very well.
Right now Vasquez would take Linares out IMO.
If linares works on a few things then he might be able to beat Vasquez, but that wont be for a while and im sure Vasquez will be too shop worn.

The only knock on Vazquez is that he needs to get inside to do damage. A guy like Linares could use that long jab that he used against Larios to keep him away for rounds at a time. But I don't think Linares is ready just yet.

Vazquez is a huge puncher. While Linares dominated Larios, he took some good shots as well. Larios has always been a high-volume, low-power boxer.

Give the kid 2-3 more bouts against former world champs or Top 5 comp at feather. Then see how he will handle Vazquez. Right now though if they were to fight today, Vazquez would have to get the edge.
