It’s too bad Alex Miroshnichenko’s life got cut short by tragedy

This guy had talent! Look at the body work here. That’s rare for a heavyweight his size. He also STOPPED Ross Puritty in the pro’s which if memory serves me right… only Vitali is the other one to do so. Vitali stopped Puritty busting him up on cuts to avenge Wlad ;)

He also defeated Bowe and Lewis in the amateurs. Almost got Bowe out of there in ‘88 Seoul with that body attack too.

Mannerisms and rhythm remind me of the K bros.

He looked a real talent, strong left hand. I can see why he beat Lennox Lewis and Riddick Bowe twice! and knocked down Bowe.

Judging by that torrid first round Bowe had against Miroshnichenko, he was getting really bashed up and was looking to quit!

Riddick Bowe is damn lucky he never faced a single ex soviet union fighter in the pros

There really isn’t anything special about “ex Soviet Union fighters” there are good ones and bad ones there system is flawed and needs adjusting in America because it’s for the amateurs - Phillips and Hatton sort of embodied what was missing from Kostya and he was Russia’s best product.

A little bit! Definitely strong and had that stoic demeanor. Although if The K-bros learned to rip to the body like Alex here did… Lol! God only knows what more damage they’d have done! I’d put Alex’s power right around Vitali’s. Vitali obviously was more of a head hunter with a bit better straight right. Wlad’s power well, league of its own.

This guy seemed to have pretty sturdy whiskers too! Not sure of the details being the Oleg loss but he apparently had a fractured forearm going in. Might be one of those Oleg ‘stoppages’ like the one against Vitali. More to the story than just a legit dropped and stopped stoppage. Although Big O did have respectable pop in his shots!

So I did a little more digging and Alex just retired after the Oleg loss! It WASN’T the ‘Fall’ down those flight of stairs that retired him from boxing. I think it had to do with that arm injury and most likely lack of promotion for someone like him back then. Yes he was excellent and managed a bronze at the games but… Eh.

I mean… had he not been screwed against Bowe in the semi’s (Watch that one) he would’ve been in the Gold medal match against a guy who he already beat in the ams… Lewis! And beat him TWICE I believe. I don’t know… I like his odds of winning Gold. And a Gold Medal winning stoic Russian powerhouse HW in the pros… :naughty2: Come on. I don’t even need to go into the angle promoters could’ve took with that one.

LOL smh. I think their results amateurs and since they've hit the pro ranks clearly tells you they are special. it goes without saying

It's hardly flawed LOL considering they've had back to back non stop elite P4P talent ..V Klitschko, W Klitschko, Usyk, Tszyu, Kovalev, Beterbiev, Bivol, Golovkin, Lomachenko and so on... They've been the dominant force in boxing since they could turn pro.

Of course all countries have good and bad ones, it's just they have more far good ones and far less bad ones than 99% of other places.

Certain countries try their best at boxing but never even get any world champions or medalists for example.

Just to correct the original post, I’m pretty sure he retired w injuries and then had the lethal incident after being retired for about a decade. He also is said to have broken his arm against Maskaev. Or maybe he fought a a broken arm.

    He would’ve beaten Old George.
