it has been a long time coming for Joan. The inactivity over the past couple years has been very frustrating as a fan of this Boxing Lord. Some of that was his own fault, some of it was the fault of disgraceful ABC's and some of it was somewhere in between.

Guzman is now a Golden Boy fighter. How this happened, I'm not quite sure. Last i heard was that Top Rank had staked an interest in him. However, he hasn't fought since December so that didn't appear to work out well.

It is a near certainty that Guzman becomes very active in the near future. Check out the stable of GBP lightweights. He's got a lot of names coming up right around the corner. The big fish is JMM.

Soon, Guzman's legend will grow exponentially. Count on it.

He's not going to take over the Boxing world that's probably going too far. He might though become a big name in the future...may'be.

If he'll fight at 140 maybe yes . . . higher than that he's screwed.

He can start by fighting Nate Campbell at 140.

He has not even fought at 135 right? How do you reckon he will take over the boxing world? By talking his interpreter to death?

How can he take over the world.

Mate 2 fights in the last 3 years and he is already 33 years old.

If he was going to take over boxing he should have started 3 years ago.

    He is older than.
Only fighters older than him around his weight class are
    JM Marquez
    Nate Campbell
    Joel Casamayor
    Junior Witter

Everyone thats decent at 135 or 140 are either 3 years or below Joan's age now.
    This includes
    Pacquiao
    Hatton
    Khan
    Bradley
    J Diaz
    Valero
    Holt
    Urango
    Katsidis
    Peterson

If Guzman was taking the world by storm his fans should have let him know to start say back in 2006.

Age is not the end all. For one thing, he has taken very little damage his entire career. I think he has more tread life left than the much younger Juan Diaz. Granted, his reflexes and quickness are much of which makes him special. It cannot be assumed that these will significantly fade over the next 2 years and I believe that fighting under the GBP banner will lead to big time fights over these next two years.

Did you see his last fight.

Please he went 12 rounds with Ameth Diaz.

The same Ameth that got KO'd in 4 rounds by unknown Takehiro Shimada.

Mate Guzman might win a few fights along the way but when your talking big names he hasnt even one on his resume.
Barrios is about is big as it got for Guzzy. But hey that was 3 years ago.

Ill be honest here. Id say Guzman now after that much time off wouldnt even beat say Amir Khan.

Joan isn't a KO artist these days. He's not an electrifying finisher. He completely dominated that fight, it was a mismatch. Not a big deal that it didn't end violently.

Soto was more recent than Barrios and Soto may be a slightly better fighter than Barrios. I thought he looked excellent in both fights, but the Barrios fight was much more exciting.

I think JMM is the only one to even compete with him at 135. Love to see him fight Valero. I doubt we'll ever see it, though.

Yea if Guzman takes it serious he can make some noise for real.. I think Golden Boy will take him where he should have been a long time ago.. This was a great move for his career..

I think you overlook the lazyness of Guzman. He gets a fight with Katsidis pulls out for a fake injury. Then gets the fight of his career and doesnt train hard enough and comes in over weight for Campbell.

To me that says lazy. And what happens to lazy fighters when they step it up against the best.

    They get ****ed up.
Theres no hiding his talent. He is talented but ****. Your talking him up like he has a say about the P4P rankings.

**** he has to beat someone first. Barrios and Soto im afraid are not huge names.
Come back and talk to me if its.
    Juan Diaz or JMM.
2 fights in 3 years mate. Name me one other fighter that has come back and ruled Boxing after fighting 2 fights in 3 years against not awesome comp.

I can name the sort fighters Guzman will get first up with Golden Boy.

And i bet it wont be JMM or Pacman or PBF or even Valero.

    It will be guys like
    John Murray or Ali Funeka.

It would be interesting to see how the inactivity affects him. He sure looked like crap against Diaz. Luckly, Guzman has a chin because if it was a top fighter he would of been face first on the canvas.
