They interviewed Schaefer yesterday and they asked him about this fight. He says he's still working on it and an announcement should be made within the next 10 days.

good move by garcia. i don't think showtime/gbp is putting up enough money to lure both into this fight.

I just dont see how Garcia is rated number 1, Khan was a great win but come on, any hard hitter could do that to khan. He struggled with morales in the first fight, a light welterweight morales at that! A past prime Judah.. He is untested, he knows it. Lucas would knock him out and that's for sure, he might last longer then Peterson but once he gets tired it's light out.

You can't really blame him , can you . It's kind of difficult for Garcia to accept the fact that if he fights Matthysee ( I'm not saying he WILL) he's very likely going to suffer a brutal knockout loss . Nobody wants to get beaten down/knocked out for the whole world to see . That's pretty hard to deal with and accept . But it will rub me the wrong way if Garcia avoids Mathysse and i will def label him a ducker if it was to happen .

garcia and matthysse aren't the ones calling the shots. if u think that's the case then you don't understand how boxing works. neither guy is self managed and both are al haymon fighters. from a business standpoint...they're not going to make the kind of money a bout between them should at this point. postpone it...have them co-headline a week after the mayweather/canelo fight to sell it properly so they can generate some real money. this fight has the potential to be a war that could see them both diminished significantly afterwards. i see no problem in maximizing the money a bout of this magnitude is capable of.

agree, but on the other side, it could turn out to be just like gamboa-jml.

    that's the chance they're taking.

from a fan standpoint...sure we all want to see the fight next.

as someone who has developed fighters and knows how long it takes to do so....i get what they're doing and it's smart.

How? The potential like Lopez vs Gamboa? :rofl

The fight will never be a PPV fight and it won't generate more money either if you let it build up more. Do you think a fight right now between Alexander vs Bradley would have more interest than it had when they fought? Even if Alexander was undefeated that fight would still not sell more. Same with Lucas/Garcia.
