Martin Murray was no bum. That much is certain.

There are many great boxers throughout the sport's rich history who have been accused of such.

He was no Marvin Hagler, either.

Yea, but nobody besides maybe GGG could be even close Hagler's level right now.

Accused yes but when it came to it they could FIGHT! too.
The biggest problem for me is Floyds association with The NSAC & Vegas. Floyd knows all he has to do is be standing at the final bell & he'll get the decision regardless if he really won or not.
So why should he take risks & go all out to win??:patsch

If they are in fights where we know they will win I don't watch the "boring" fights( just the technical breakdown afterwards). But in good match-ups I always watch. As far as being a fan, hard core boxing fans just have different styles they prefer.

I agree with you about those boring guys like Whittaker and Floyd. Those guys secretly admire guys that put on a show and make the crowd go wild. Don't care how good they are, I'm not paying money for that ****.

I don't like GGG that much to be honest though. He's a KO machine, but I'm more into dynamic attackers, like Pac, Tyson. Fast volume punchers with power. I find GGG a little basic.

  8. Are you suggesting 'brave fighters' (slightly vague term but i think we all know what u are getting at here) don't have that type of 'talent'? Defensive, athletic sensibilities?! Kovalev, Degale, Saunders, Calzaghe, Khan, Usyk, Vitali, Povetkin, Martinez, Lomachenko & Frampton would probably disagree... I think you are stereo typing & generalising too much!

    I like GGG.

It's just that he likes fighting bums, hence his nickname Bumluvkin.

You can't really compare GGG to Floyd. Floyd was in GGG's situation when starting out at 130, wanting the big fights like Hamed, Freitas, and the Morales's of the world.

Rather than complain or constantly fight bums however, Floyd moved up and fought bigger men.

Can't see GGG doing that, he's comfortable in his position beating up tomato cans, and I nor any of his fanboys don't know why.

LOL "the few fights I've been in" - fighting complete no-hopers and skill-less bums with little to no training, is not the same as fighting highly trained people who fight for a living. You're a complete tool. I don't even like Mayweather, but I know he'd have you crying like a little girl in a few seconds.

Yes lets generalise all these people from different countries, races, cultures because they like the same boxer?

You do realise the term "fl*mo" is used by people who for some reason hate a man who boxes for a living and has the temerity to fight to win rather than entertain in the twilight of his career after moving up multiple weight classes, to belittle people who do like him to make themselves feel superior?
it's not an actual thing.

The irony of your post is deafening.

and btw im british and mixed race but let me guess the black american in me is replying now yeah? bwahahaha!!:lol: :patsch:patsch
i'm living proof your comment is re****ed.

you guys are emabarassing, just say you hate floyd because of all the known reasons and be happy. some of them are even valid!

you liking different boxers to me is just that, it doesnt make you anything, grow up dude.

No they don't, these guys have other talents and attributes that make them good fighters. I'm not saying one is greater than the other. However, you're foolish to believe that any pro boxer would purposefully fight in such a way that detoriates from his effectiveness as a boxer, it's all about min/maxing offense and defense and if they could "run" (which basically means counterpunching off the backfoot as there's seldom any running involved) AND be more effective as boxers, they'd do it.

First, anyone who gets in a boxing ring and fights has courage. 99.9% of the population wouldn't do it. So Kudos to you any of the rest of use who've done it.

Secondly, in the words of Apollo Creed "It doesn't take a man to stand there and get your head beat off!". In other words, there's a fine line between bravery and idiocy.

Thirdly, boxing is a sport and not just a tough man contest. It has rules. The main object of any sport is to win. If you derive some self worth from getting punched more than someone else, good for you. I can't criticise anyone for winning though. Just because someone is a better boxer than me, can move and box better than me... doesn't mean they are a coward. It means they play the game better than I do.

No one in the history of boxing ever got an Olympic gold medal just for being brave. If they did, a single mother bringing up 3 kids by herself or firefighters would be Olympic champs.

It doesn't matter who you like or dislike really but it seems to me that these so called boring fighters are making the most money and getting the most buys. Im a floyd fan so i buy his fights but why do people continually bash him but still buy his fights and then moan about it after. brain dead

Indeed, people like the myth of the fighter that says "I love taking punches, give me more". That is just not the reality. I think Gatti (blood and guts warrior) said it best, "If I could fight any other way without taking as much punishment, I would."

no one likes getting hit, Most of these guys don't know the real Hagler for instance either. He could brawl but he was really a boxer puncher that hated being crowded and would often move around. "Fight Fans" smh
