really insulting describing this bloke as the worlds worst boxer. he was far from it. especially when you see the cancer on the ESB lounge that is the trailer park series.

All you people knocking him do you not understand 'the journeyman', at the end of the day he's been in the top 10 earning boxers in the UK most recent years. He's been in there with some of the best and his given many a young prospect a good lesson at the start of their careers. He's also only been stopped in 10 of those losses. He's saved many a promoter/show and has taken fights at literally a few hours notice. You have also gotta realise that many of those close defeats were probably his but being in the young prospects hometown the decision was given to them. Credit to the sport. Most people here knocking him couldnt lace his gloves and if so lets see your records then eh.

at face value his record does look awful but there were reasons why he was allowed to box on for so long.....he hardly ever looked in trouble in fights and I think he only got KO'd a few times which is very impressive seen as he went in with over 10 fighters who went on to be world champ and had 300 fights..

he really did have an excellent chin and nearly always went the distance without looking in trouble. this meant that he was a great opponent to use as a yard stick for up and coming fighters, and he would give fighters who could really 'bang' some valuable ring time as Buckley wasn't getting knocked out..He took Nazeem Hamed the distance and they even had a rematch to see if Naz could do it the second time..and we all know how hard Naz could bang!!!

he would also take fights with 24 hours notice and alot of times saved a show from getting cancelled. how many fighters would do that?

and he admitted that the reason he had so many fights was the fact that he loved boxing so much,,, he also won his last and 300th fight to a packed crowd...well done Peter,,,,a true servant of the sport!!

Also needs to be remembered that he took many fights on short notice (one fight he took on two hours notice apparently!). The sport couldnt survive without these journeymen and fair play to him that it kept him out of trouble and kept him earning.

As for the thread starter having a little go at Brits...

I dont like knocking any boxer cos at the end of the day they are the ones with the dedication and balls to get in the ring however good they are, and the sport needs journeymen as much as it needs your ODH's, hatton's etc but a good journeyman is durable and can take fighters the full rounds, that fighter above however is not a good journeyman
