He deserves a little rest ,Kessler ,Hopkins and Jones ?

If he takes on Dawson me personally I would have a new found respect for him and his status all time gets him bumped up inside the top 20 !

Cooke: I agree, Hopkins is better than Dawson, IMO. But it was an ugly fight and I don't think Joe will give BHop the rematch.

Mexican Legend: Yep. Dawson is ready to head to Wales, so that's all set. :good

Taking on Dawson would be most commendable, and I think he will.

But Dawson is a different kettle of fish than 39 year old Roy, or 43 year old Hopkins.

HUGE credit to Calzaghe if he takes the Dawson offer. MEGA credit.

Has Calzaghe ever fought a dude 6'3" before? Chad is a big boy, and in my opinion Calzaghe looks a bit slower and certainly flabbier at LHW. I think the size would be a big advantage for Dawson.

Way too risky, if he wins then people will find a way to discredit him (eg. Dawson already lost to Johnson, he was green etc.) but if he loses, it will be sufficient ammo for people will question his whole career and say he was overrated/nothing.

It is lose, lose for Calzaghe. He already faught the biggest threat at 168 (Kessler) and these last two fights were his send off.

Calzaghe himself will be nearly 37 and is past his best.

That said, if he were to win, I for one would consider him one of the best ever, it would be a HUGE win.

This is the only way for Calzaghe to go.

If he is a true champion he will take the fight.

If he is a true legend he will win it fairly, without any hometown bogus going on.

Although i think Calzaghe proved his greatness after the Kessler and Hopkins fights, Dawson is the missing link in his chain. Kessler was Calzaghe's hungry young unbeaten fighter, but because of his European status Calzaghe never got the credit he should have for it and to the haters, he has just beaten a protected Euro fighter (Kessler), a hype job (Lacy), and two old men (and they are right about Jones).

The difference between a win over Dawson and the wins over Lacy and Kessler is he a proven (Lacy was far from it), unbeaten American champion (Kessler win was always underrated because of his nationality). Dawson is the tested Lacy, the American Kessler. It would do wonders for his legacy if he were to beat Dawson.

:good I wanted this fight instead of the Roy Jones fight...we all knew Roy was done in 2005...Maybe he will finally retire before continuing to destroy his legacy...

I think Joe will retire...aside from the hardcore boxing fans, no one will care about a final with Chad Dawson...i don't see how a fight with Chad will be able to top this as a final fight. He accomplished everything he wanted to accomplish in the ring. Despite what boxing critics might think, he doesn't need Chad Dawson to secure his legacy at 175...he is currently the recognized Champion at Light-Heavy.

Dawson is a different animal then those Joe has been fighting...It will be his toughest fight, and I dont that he could win it. I think that Dawson would finish Joe. What I mean by that is he wont be letting him off the hook like Hopkins and Jones did, and he is more talented and he can adjust in a fight unlike Kessler and Lacy...

For me I dont think that its a fight that Joe needs to take, and he shouldnt be bashed for not taking it. If the man want to retire let him go in peace..None of this Dawson ran him out of boxing sh*t that Lewis gets about V. Klit.
