It is both a blessing and a curse. The curse being that Wlad, majority champ, cannot face Vitali. But then Kltischko fans seem to support both brothers. They seem to treat them as one and the same when it is convenient. How do you feel about the situation?
Horrible. With the two kicking around we're never going to have a definative no1, which is what boxing is all about.
You could look at it as Klitschko fights happening twice as often, which is a good thing because nobody is forced to watch them if they don't want to. Also with two champions, contenders aren't forced to wait long for their title shot- whether or not that is a good thing. It also means there aren't many excuses for ducking a Klitschko fight. Chances are this situation wont happen again in the division, and realistically Vitali will retire within a year anyway so whether you like it or not its not going to go onlike this forever.
Yea Wlad is no.1 now, no doubt. Vitali is like the ultimate gatekeeper, but with a belt for his efforts :good
You're an idiot for thinking that there would be one otherwise. Just look at the WBA, Volodymyr is WBA champ but..... If Vitali was never around right now you'd probably have Chambers, Haye and Arreola with a belt or some **** just like the Ruiz Rahman Byrd cluster**** circa 2002 with King positioning Thompson, Valuev, Meehan, Oquendo, Quezada vs eachother and the American media talking about how deep the division is. atsch
I think it's generally a bad thing for the division. Nothing against either Klit -- they're both great fighters -- but them holding a duopoly on the belts isn't as good as two independent fighters in the same position would be. Look at it this way: If they weren't brothers, they'd have fought by now, or the pressure on them to fight would be as great or greater than the pressure on Pac-May. If there were two independently as-talented champs as the Klitschko's at the top of the tree in the heavyweight division, people would look at the whole division a lot differently. But there's another thing, too: The fact that they won't fight each other and are brothers means that collectively they seem to fight for an organic 'one', rather than as individuals. If Wlad puts a spanking on someone, it's as if Vitali put a spanking on them too, and vice versa. Nobody wants to see someone who got beaten by one of them fight the other, because they came from the same school and are similar in many ways. This wouldn't be the case if they were two completely independent fighters; people would want to see how they measured-up and how the styles worked out. This means that as individual champions they seem to end up having half the meaningful fights that other champions have to have. Wlad takes care of this guy, Vitali takes care of that guy, ... etc. If they fought each other, I wouldn't have a problem with them (I don't particularly have a problem with their styles, or their individual dominance, for example), but the fact that they won't creates the impression of a choke-hold at the top of the division, which really shouldn't be there.
I'm an idiot for thinking the best two guys in a weight division should fight to see who is the best?
To be honest if they weren't brothers Wlad would probably beat Vitali the same way he beat a lot of other guys. Jab-jab-jab.
I like the fact that both are taking on all contenders on a regular basis, and beating them. I haven't got a problem with no number 1 guy, at this moment in time. Because if someone does step up and beat both the 2 dominate brothers, then it will mean alot more than winning against some paper champion, or average title holder.....
If one of them didn't exist in the division the situation i described below would be the case, you'd prefer that? You honestkly saying that wouldn't be what would happen?
We're not talking about Vitali "not being around"; we're talking about Vitali and Wlad operating as two independent agents. They'd both have to take more tough fights and they both have to fight each other. If they did that and two or three years went by and they were both still top of the tree, they'd both have to fight each other again. This is normal practice and would make the whole division a lot less stale than it seems. That's not a bad thing.
