Well said..Kimbo does have a good technic in standing, his power was overrated but he was throwing good punches...but his cardio suck big time..big big big time..
Yeah what Kimbo has done is great but it is a shame that guys who have trained so much harder and much more talent make 1,000 and he makes six figures. Kimbo has been one of the greatest con jobs up until now. When he finally does lose I won't be unhappy. Respect Kimbos progress in such a short time but feel bad for better fighters who put more time in that do not get the break that Kimbo has gotten. Respect James Thompson also who almost pulled the upset despite his china chin.
Kimbo never played college ball and he never went to the U of Miami. Don't believe what you see on Wiki. He went to Bethune Cookman U. for a year and a half before he flunked out.
yeah kimbo slice is awesome. he is totally marketable for the sport... more marketable than any ufc fighter past or present could ever dream of. so stop hatin
James Thompson will be MMA's first death. I'm not really bothered about the way this fight ended. Thompson's ear had just exploded (no idea why they ddint drain it before the fight. It was at bursting point before the fight started) and he's taken far too many shot's and been KO'd far too often. Kimbo did more damage in this fight but he was exposed and it was always a joke to have these too headling an event over the likes of Lawler, Baroni, Smith and Joey.
(He doesn't fight in the UFC BTW- different org.) and people only hate on nuthuggers who overhype he's limited ability. I respect the guy for fighting, and he's training with a great coach in Bas- but he hasn't done anything just yet to warrant the blind nuthuggery that some people display toward him.
Maybe he is good for MMA - I mean ok he is hyped and getting way beyond whats due to him but at some point he will have to fight someone good and at that point the fans lured in by the hype of kimbo might be impressed by the dude that beat kimbo and then at that point get into MMA as a whole. More fans for the sport mean more money for all the 'proper' MMA fighters (well its a theory) - rather than hate kimbo for lacking the skills and not being deserving of where he is you can see him as a promotional tool for a sport and widening the audience to the mainstream. In theory he will have to fight some proper names out there at some point and at that time there will be a lot more fans to the sport (learning as they go along) interested in the game as a whole and not just one man.
Yeah.... that was the "theory" behind shoving Mike Tyson's sorry ass out there again and again to be owned by the likes of Holyfield, Lewis and McBride. Where's those fans now? They're waxing elegant about how bad Iron Mike was 20 years ago. All Kimbo does is give people the impression that it doesn't take much to be a star in the sport of MMA.
The only thing thats good for MMA is good legit fighters and fights! Kimbo is no good for MMA at all and never will be because he can't fight, earns way too much money and is holding back more talented fighters by takign there place as the main fight. Kimbo's purse should be spent elsewhere. The sooner he fights "Big Foot" the better.
To any fool who says don't hate on Kimbo because he is doing something you can't. Just STFU! Then don't **** about Bush or the learders of your country. Don't post anything anymore about any fighter, because they are doing something you can't. The fact that MMA fans are all over Kimbo right now, they/we all have a point. CBS, ESPN, and others have put Kimbo as the face of MMA. To where many fighters with much better skills have busted their ass to make the sport what they are. But that a You Tub guy that beat up people like me, is being put over as a great fighter wich he isn't. Kimbo is a gimmick. A good fighter that in the end is going to get ICED! Lets see if Shaw has balls to put him in with Rogers, or other fighters with skills. His next fight will be vs Cabbage, or slow fighers that are going to stand in front of him. CBS and Shaw has some very good fighters. As their first show on CBS, they shouldv'e had Chung Lee, or other Big names with skills to showcase their product. What also hurt them last night, was the quick stoppage from a ringside DR that seems that she didn't have a clue what MMA is about.
Great points on Mike Tyson and Kimbo. I am still shocked when I read and hear people say that Mike was always over rated and realy not that good. That is coming from people that has always hated Mike or fight fans that never realy saw him in his prime. Now Kimbo made his mark vs people like me. That just hurts MMA.
