I have been very critical of Manny Pacquiao and I will contune to be so. However I beleve in being critical of him or for that matter anyone else for real issues. In Pacquiao's case taking easy fights and avoiding Mayweather. Also for using his influance to make his last 2 championship efforts at catchweights. One criticism of Pacquiao which I think is unfair is the criticism that he has not faced a slick Black boxer. Pacquiao has spent a lot of his career in the lower weights winning championships at Flyweight, Super Bantamweight, Featherweight, Super Featherweight, Lightweight, Welterweight and Light Middleweight. Historicaly speaking how many slick Black fighters have there been in thes lower weights? Lets make this easier how many Black fighters have there been at those weights espicialy Fly-Super feather. If that is too diffcult what about slick boxers of any Race, Creed, Nationaly and so fourth? The Lightweight to Light Middleweight range is where the more Athletic or slick boxers really start to show up. It is not intell we get to Middleweight that thy really start to become the dommant force in those weight calsses. From 160 up is where we start to see more Black and Eastern Europan boxers who tend to be bigger and more athletic than their counterparts at the lower weights. Pacquiao deserves to be crritcized for things and he has brought those things onto himself. However this is not one of those issues. At 147 outside of Mayweather who is really slick? Mosley is smart and experanced. He packs a great punch but he's not slick. Berto can punch even better than Mosley but he is by no means a slick boxer. Like I said Pacquiao deserves our wrath for things like taking easy fights and avoiding Mayweather, but not for this issue.
I think all boxers should be slick. I said this all along. Slickness is the apex of any boxer. The self-actualization of any boxer is when he becomes Slick. Fact. A few advanced posters here realize that. Balheadslick is one, Slickster64 is one and other posters who have slick in their names. Those new in the game should learn this. Follow Floyd's path and technique and you will be open to greatness. Fact. :deal Floyd Mayweather is the epitome of being Slick. Fact. :deal
Good Bi Partisan stuff man, but I wished he fought Zahir Raheem the same way Mayweather choose right after they both beat Judah Baldomir
Like I said before I will concede Campbell and of course the king of all slicks - PBF. I do not give Raheem just because Pac would be totally shitted on for not giving respect to the ATG Morales. Look at how much Pac is getting shitted on for not taking on JMM III and that was a tie and a close win. Morales clearly beat him in the first fight. There is a very small amount of slick black fighters under 147. The low numbers and timing made if it difficult to fight slick black fighters before Pac vs ODLH.
your wrath meaning the joyboy's wrath? can you tell us where is maywetaher right now and how the hell pacquiao was avoiding him when floyd is the one who is on vacation? and please compare floyd to pac's resume and tell me which one is taking the more easy fights. we can make a poll if it is necessary.
If you want to compare resume compare away. Mayweather has the better resume he has fought better oppoents throughout his career. He may not have been fighting as much as of late in comparsion to Pacquiao but at least he takes on challanges. That has been more than can be said for Pacquiao. I will take Mosley*, Marquez**, Hatton, De La Hoya, Baldmior and Judah. Over Margarito, Clottey , Cotto, Hatton and De La Hoya. *Pacquiao is going to fight Mosley it is about time he took on a chalange the last time he did that was at best against Hatton four fights ago. ** Marquez has given pacquiao all he could handle in two fights a match up at 147 or even 144 or 145 (as long as no championship [Pacquiao's this time] is on the line). There is no comparsian Mayweather hgas not only fought better compotion than Pacquiao has He has beaten better boxers than Pacquiao has.
My thought on catchweights is this I am fine with them as long as no championship is on the line. I am not defending anyone for winning a championship in a catchweight fight. However the fact is that Pacquiao has done this twice. The Leonard/Lalonde bout was for both the Super Middleweight and Light Heavyweight championships. If it was contracted for 168 than only the super middleweight championship should have been on the line. What was the contracted weight for Leonard/Hearns II? If it was anything less than 168 than no championship should have been on the line. It is not relevent what a boxer weighed in their last fight. In otherwords the fact that Cotto weighed 146 vs. Clottey dose not make lowering the contracted weight ok for a championship fight. As for Pacquiao weighing in at 150 for his bout with Margarito. There is nothing wrong with that. A boxer can weigh what ever they want. When a championship is on the line the fight should be contracted meaning the maxium weight should be the max weight for that weight class. As for pacquia giving up 17 Lbs on fight night. This kind of thing nis not that unusual espicialy with weigh ins happing the day before and allowing the boxers to rehaydrate them selves. What did Pacquiao weigh on fight night? I'm guessing not much over 150? This shows that he was in better shape than Margarito to begin with not that he overcame some monster.
here's the criticsm Pac would have gotten for fighting slick fighters at 130 and up. Raheem..no criticsms. Top Rank promoted both fighters and protected Pac. I think Pac shoulda fought this guy but not at 135 or at a catch weight. By the time Pac went to 135, Raheem was done. Raheem would have exposed him, HOWEVER, Pac was not the complete fighter that he was. Fight would probably have been boring as hell. Raheem ran from Morales the entire fight, imagine him fighting Pacquiao. Nate Campbell at 135. He would have been a more legitamate opponent than David Diaz. David Diaz turned out to be a tough cookie. I think Campbell is the most beatable out of all Pac's would be slick fighter opponents. Too old... Joel Casamayor...135/140. pretty slick fighter. Pac probably would have taken him out. Katsidis floored him. JMM beat him with ease. Casamayor was I think lineal champ. Would have been an awesome fight. Joan Guzman....4 years ago. Really dangerous fight for Pacquiao. Guzman would not engage more than 1 exchange before he gets on his bicycle. I still think Guzman is a viable opponent today. Feather fisted as **** and very unprofessional. HOWEVER, he does have a zero on his record. Either way, Pac would get criticsm no matter what. However those 3 mentioned DID and should have gotten a shot at Pacquiao. Tons of slick fighters today that Pac should be fighting. Winner of Bradley/Alexander SHOULD call out Pac. I think if Mayweather doesn't fight this year in 2011. The winner SHOULD get a fight with Pac later in 2011.
