Some people seem to have convinced themselves that Hatton can't be great, because he gets hit a lot. Hatton in some ways deliberately gets hit, you saw last night that he knew that if he 'gambled' there was a chance Lazcano would drill him in the face, but he kept gambling to a) impress the fans b) inflict punishment on his opponent. Being punched doesn't mean you aren't great or a top 10 P4P, it just means in Hatton's case that it's part of his style. (P.s If any other fighter other than Hatton was involved in that match, people would be talking of it being a great fight, for some reason he stills get criticism and people saying they didn't enjoy it)
His style works. If it continues to work, people will have to re-appraise him. I agree that he is given a hard time on the forum.
Its cuz everyone's on the Mayweather trip right now. What they forget is that most fighters do get hit and get hit often. I thought it was a great fight and I'll be watching Lazcano again as well.
as i recall ali took a hellacious amount of punishment just in his fights with frazier (more punishment than it seemed possible for a human to take) and he is widely considered top 3 greatest of all time
Hatton's a very good fighter and last night/afternoons fight was a fun one to watch. The problem is he was taking punishment from a Juan Lazcano. That's a fighter a guy the quality of Ricky Hatton should NOT be getting wobbled by.
