Pavlik is th unified champ at middle ..I think that accomplishment alone is more than what Lacy has done ..And even if Kelly didn't pay all the sanctioning bodies (not sure if there is a belt that he does not have )he's still the man at 160 when was Lacy ever the man at anything other than message board hype ??

    Pavlik = Lacy ???

Crazy comparison ... Pavlik doesn't get hit as much as Lacy ... he has the ability to get on his toes ... he can box waaaay better than Lacy ... he uses his jab - very effectively ... the double jab ... left hook, right hand, uppercut ... Pavlik has more tools.

    Pavlik's headmovement ... defense ... speed ... power ...

Overall Pavlik is a better fighter than Lacy and he's able to make adjustments ... he won't allow himself to get overwhelmed.

Pavlik doesn't have to be set to get off punches ... he can punch walking in ...

He's taller, longer than Lacy who's more compact and more stout ...

Man come on now Pavlik is a beast ...

I've been thinking about this for a while now and this is going to be a great fight simply because I can't make a choice on how I think it's going to go.

Reasons why Joe should win; he has a huge experience edge. He's probably fought guys like Pavlik where as Pavlik has fought no one like Joe. Joe is faster, throws more punches and can adapt better where as Kelly sticks with his one two.

Reasons why Kelly should win; he's younger, stronger and more brutal. Unlike Lacy he will throw hard punches inbetween Joe's punches and doesn't need to set, also he's a straight puncher Lacy was a hook puncher, so I don't see a blowout happening. And Unlike Kessler he won't just land big shots and then let Joe off the hook, he will land big shots and then wear you down, he does not back off.

I actually hesitated when deciding whether to even respond to this.

Let's hear it. What did Kessler do to achieve the "elite" status that Pavlik hasn't?

Pavlik isn't an elite fighter :patsch :patsch :patsch

I know the "if a beats b and b beats c, then a beats c" arguments can get out of hand, but for purposes of this argument I'm gonna use it.

Hopkins was chased out of Middleweight by Jermian Taylor. Whether you think the judging was off or not, B-Hop didn't have enough in him to get a CLEAR victory over Taylor in two tries :deal Taylor also fought Winky Wright to a draw (I thought Winky won), again regardless of scoring it was close enough to be scored a draw by some. Pavlik destroyed Taylor, and won a clear decision in the rematch. Now I'm not saying Pavlik can beat Wright, I don't think he can. And based off this logic, I'm not saying he can beat Hopkins, but I do think he can for other reasons (stylistic nightmare for HOps) But I am using this logic to justify him being called an "elite fighter" and his two victories over Taylor far eclipse anything Kessler has done in this sport :deal :deal :deal

And after this last fight, I would not be surprised if Pavlik is the betting favorite in this fight.

    B-Level fighters???? Taylor isn't B-Level :deal

If you are discrediting Pavliks KOs over Miranda and Taylor, stating they are B-level. How do you rate Calzaghe's competition. A 43 yr old Hopkins? An older version of the guy that B-level fighter Taylor beat twice....he's elite right, yet Taylor isn't? :nut :nut

This fight may be extremely close in the making. Arum has been talking to Roach's camp about Calzaghe's skill/ style.

Yeah, apart from the hand speed thing (wrongly predicted) it was an interesting read. Loads of posters here predicted the hand speed issue to be all important. As we all saw, that was not the decisive Calzaghe virtue. Pavliks hand speed is to my eye significantly slower than both Calzaghe's and Kessler's which should leave Calzaghe with tons of chances to put some leather on Pavliks face.

(Second hand info:) Pavlik vs. Calzaghe is going to happen.

My wish: Let it take place in Ohio.

With a Calzaghe win in Ohio the contingent of Calzaghe critiques are put on the retreat.

Doesn't that mean we might potentially see another fight where the Welsh and British fans will dominate?
