It looks like Pavlik/Calzaghe is almost official

Wait - what, Joe will be the counterpuncher this time? Don't be ridiculous, Joe C. is a good fighter but he's a come-forward squared up fighter with a high output. Don't start making him into a guy who can adapt to anything.

It was an argument about Joe's punch resistance. If a clean right hand on the forehead/eye from Hopkins can stun and drop him, so can a clean right from Pavlik. :deal

Yes, it's a different kind of challenge. I would have preferred the tactical challenge presented by Jones, though. What worries me is whether Pavlik will have the time to build up to 168 lbs properly. Assuming he takes one month off after Lockett and then has four months to train for Calzaghe, I don't think that is time enough to build up properly. What do you think, sean?

What about his resistance to Kessler's bombs?

Joe's always fought better when he has somebody come to him.

He's always been poor when having to chase somebody.

Joe will be so much better in this fight, it's a much better match up for him styles wise.

Now you're saying Joe can't adapt? You're a lost cause.

This really is a high-risk/low reward for Calzaghe. He excels against fighters with low to medium output. Against a taller and much younger fighter, with comparable punch output, and obviously a much harder punch, he's taking a big risk. If he wins, he beat a MW. If he loses, he lost to a MW.

If a straight right from Hopkins can floor Calzaghe, then a left hook from Lacy will definitely KO him....

    ....oh wait. :nut

I don't think he would have. I would like to see Roy beat somebody other than a shot Tito before we chuck him in there with an elite fighter again.

If you look at what Direll did to Hanshaw it gives you an idea of how much Roy has slipped.

I don't know, what about it? I don't care if he can take 1,000 straight punches, he has also proven that he can be hurt and dropped by one (not so devastating blow) from a fighter who isn't known for his power.

Youre using one punch in last fight to make a case for his punch resistance. All punches hurt obviously. He wasn't in trouble, he wasn't on ***** street, he wasn't even close to being stopped.

Im sure Pavlik will hit Calzaghe clean, but not with a straight right hand down the pipe as he's coming forward like hopkins did.

If I use your logic, Pavlik had to hit Taylor a gazillion times to put him away in the first fight, and didn't do so in the second fight, so how is he going to stop some one who is much harder to hit cleaner? And let's remember Taylor's low left hand and lack of movement is a virtual bullseye for Pavlik's right hand.

But...but...but if Henry Cooper could put down Ali then how could he take all those shots from Foreman and Shavers.

    Your argument ain't great Beware.

Lacy wasn't skilled or experienced enough to get land one right.

Holy **** man. Pavlik has devastating KO's over Taylor and Miranda, why are you comparing him to Lacy? You are seriously underrating Pavlik here if you don't think he will land on Joe.

He clearly can adapt to anything. Thats his style, he doesn't study each boxer he faces and looks for a gameplan, he just goes into the ring and does his stuff, if he needs to adapt he does.

    Who are Taylor and Miranda??

Miranda isn't fit to lick Calzaghe's boots.

    KOing those two means nothing.

Pavlik squeaked a decision off Taylor once Jermaine made some adjustments.....Calzaghe will beat Pavlik comfortably.
