It looks like Ward wants to comeback to fight Bivol.

Wouldn't say Amar is a bum; he's solid for European level. Otherwise, though, yes Bivol has fought comparable (soon to be superior) opposition and passed the eye test more so than Gvozdyk in the pros, IMO.

I disagree, I'd rate wins over Chilemba, Gonzalez, Mohammedi, Karpency and Baker over Berridge, Valera, Agnew and Clarkson, throw Barrera in there, it evens it up at best.

Absolutely, Chilemba, Gonzalez, Mohammedi, Karpency are better than anyone Bivol's fought so far. Barrera will be the best combined opponent but it doesn't quite make up the diference.

As for the eye test that IB mentioned, it's hard to comment as it is a fairly subjective way of differentiating between top talents.

A little disingenuous there, you count five guys for Gvozdyk but only four for Bivol? Don't pretend Baker is a much higher level win than Broadhurst, if you can include the former for Gvozdyk you can include the latter for Bivol.

Bottom line is they both have a smattering of so-so coups, in roughly equal quantity and quality, right now the Nail has the edge in the latter category because Chilemba is the clear #1 among their combined ten best wins but that will be supplanted with Barrera. The array after their next fights, assuming no crazy upsets, will be:

    1) Chilemba vs. Barrera (w: DB)
    2) Mohammedi vs. Valera (w: OG)
    3) Yunieski vs. Clarkson (w: DB)
    4) Karpency vs. Agnew (tie)
    5) Amar vs. Berridge (w: DB)
    6) Baker vs. Broadhurst (tie)

    :nonono

You could argue that Mohammedi is, along with Chilemba, decidedly better than anyone Bivol has yet fought - but Karpency and YG are most certainly NOT on that same level. Both could easily go like .500 against Bivol's half dozen best opponents.

@IntentionalButt here's how I see it. Right now:

    This content is protected

    After next fights:

    1) Chilemba vs. Barrera (w: DB, but not by much. Chilemba pushed Kovalev more than Barrera pushed Ward)
    2) Mohammedi vs. Valera (w: OG)
    3) Yunieski vs. Clarkson (w: OG. Not sure how Clarkson can be said to be better, IMHO it's not even close. Yunieski is proven against Pascal, Shabbra, etc.. Clarkson has beaten exactly no one)
    4) Karpency vs. Agnew (tie)
    5) Amar vs. Berridge (tie)
    6) Baker vs. Broadhurst (tie)

I left the fifth place for Barrera, I disagree again, Berridge and Amar is 50/50 and I'd easily pick Yunieski to violently KO Clarkson.

Yunieski has also beaten exactly nobody.

Happening to make a couple of decent guys struggle in losses doesn't make you decent yourself, or not yet another overrated Cuban burnout, which is what Yunieski is.

Clarkson at least beat Agnew, how can you claim that Gonzalez has a single better W on his record, Kiwi?

You obviously don't rate YG . Just curious, why not? Most on here consider him still a top 20 LHW or thereabouts, if so he's definitely better than Valera or Clarkson who are Bivol's best.

Then consider Karpency vs Valera / Clarkson. Now I tend to go for the guy with the best wins, Karpency at least has Dawson amongst journeymen while both Valera / Clarkson basically only have journeymen. Certainly IMHO he's on a similar level to those two.

    Clarkson's best W: Cedric Agnew
Gonzalez's best W, that's so much better than Agnew (or even half as good): ?????????

Yeah, Gonzalez has no good official wins, I agree on that. I just think close fights vs Pascal and Shabra proves to me that he's on a similar level to them which is a whole level above Agnew.

I sort of see why you don't rate him if you don't give credit for close losses though.

Most people on this forum thought he beat Pascal, I scored it for Pascal by a point, a draw or a one or maybe even two point victory for Gonzalez would have been fine as well.

I scored it a draw myself. A draw vs Pascal > a win over Agnew in my books.

Yeah a more than halfway shot Pascal sandwiched in between his savagings at the Krusher's hands. Meh..
