It was years ago, he was young. A lot of people go through "phases" when they are young, I had a mate who suddenly decided he was Welsh when he was 16, because his mum was from there or something. He bought a Wales football jersey, a Wales rugby jersey, even started putting on a Welsh accent. We all took the **** out of him of course, but I guess it was his way of finding some identity, or trying to be a bit different. Other people become goths, some experiment with their sexuality, AJ decided to become Nigerian. But I think he has grown out of it now, just like my mate did.

He was screaming" I'm a 22 year old Nigerian from Nigeria, let me fight for my country"...He was a full on grown man. He just wanted to pay back the motherland by representing them.

There is nothing wrong with being proud of your roots, but he is still British through and through. And, we're all from Africa really.

I think it's a tad racist to be british and have a black guy like Joshua representing your country and being stuck on the fact he's Nigerian. Yes he has a different ethnicity that he should be proud of but so do many other white top athletes for England. Just because theyre white and they represent England, it does not mean theyre entirely english or english at all. He's as british as his accent but he's also Nigerian, now once you've got that, get over it. If you can't do that, then I'm afraid to say you might be racist :(

I have never heard about that,do you have a legit source for that, screaming outside the Nigerian Embassy can he represent them,it just tells you how much he loves the British Public.LOL,it's so obvious,i bet you at wembley he probably asked cAn they play the nigerian national anthem over the UK.He has a tattoo of Nigeria on his shoulder,i dont blame him, why would you want to rep the UK, where Hatton,Froch,Bruno,Bellew these are the pure english fighters=garbage.

2 of the last 3 genuine ATG boxers were born on these shores. Joe Calzaghe and Lennox Lewis.

AJ is soon going to make it 3 out of 4.
