So I've been boxing for about a year now and today it was apparent that I haven't been learning ****. I did a bit of ring work with a guy who trains with the Johnson brothers and learned more in those 6 rounds than my whole time at my current gym. I feel a bit depressed right now since I have a fight next week and am not ready for it. I am already 18 with only 3 fights, I feel like I'm too far behind to be successful in the future pros
Thats plenty of time. Another 7 years in the amateurs, thats 8 years total training when youre physically primed, as oppose to a kid who keeps having to adapt to their constantly changing body. You will be 25 when you turn pro but if you were good enough to make it in the first place, you will. Only takes 3 years to reach championship level with good amateur background.
I don't want to be just another pro, I atleast want a belt; even if it's a paper one. My fight is next week and I'm no where near ready. I HATE losing
I have footage of my first fight on youtube, I have some footage of sparring with all-marines but it's not on this comp. http://www.youtube.com/user/poncekid56
You need to learn how to set yourself realistic goals, you are thinking way too far into the future. Live in the moment kid.
if you have the goods and the drive you'll make it. larry holmes started late, bernard hopkins, rocky marciano, jose torres. there are cubans who turn pro in their late 20's and become successful.
Just had some sparring today, felt pretty good. The only problem is that all my sparring partners are bigger than me so I'm not getting the full experience of an actual fight
