I think Stephen Edwards on the site that talks boxing said it best, JMM is the dog of all dogs... he never gives in or gives up. Even against Floyd where he was flabby, out of his depth and had no hope he was still trying his best for all 12. It takes a special kind of fighter to do that.
My point is Floyd's style won't allow those traps to be set. He won't take those punches and fight on the inside, ever. So that situation wouldn't pop up against Pacquiao. Floyd fights with distance, razor sharp jabs, protects when he's hit, and counters with single shots before establishing distance again. Boxing IQ has many different facets, Floyd's technique lies in his ability to not get hit and his accuracy. Floyd also doesn't like lefties, everyone has different weaknesses/strengths. Marquez is Pacquiao's foil, his counterpart. His brave style allows him to find those openings in Pacquiao. Anyway, we'll agree to disagree. I'm not saying Pacquiao would win, I'm saying nothing about what happened on Sat indicates Floyd would win easily. It'll never happen anyway, Floyd never wanted it and his latest comments show how relieved he is that this happened. If Floyd would beat him so bad, he would have taken the fight on already.
I agree that I have never understood why the fight was never made but I think both sides are to blame but onto what we are talking about I just dont see any difference to JMM setting up Manny by backing up timing him then BAM! is to say when Floyd backed himself up into the corner against Hatton then caught him with the checkhook (somthing he actually tried a few times before in that fight) both were well planned well set traps that involved taking risks This content is protected the point im making is Manny isnt able to adjust which to fighters like JMM PBF is just what they need to expose a fighter since they can adjust during a fight at will listen to JMM say after the KD in rd 5 that he suffered they made the right adjustments so he didnt get caught again with that punch YET still sticking to their gameplan, Mayweather can also do this even better too, Manny would have lost thats the bottom line
I think you can't compare Hatton to Pacquiao in same way you can't compare Floyd to Marquez. Floyd would certainly find opportunities to land shots on Pacquiao but there were a lot of factors that led to Marquez finding that opportunity - namely he had just been KO'd, was breathing hard, had a broken nose and Pacquiao saw a quick win and got wild and reckless. There's a reason Pacquiao hasn't been KO'd for 12 years - it's silly to make out this guy has no technique because he's offensive. I saw before that KO some fantastic movement from PAcquiao that Marquez couldn't get near. He had just 5 body shots on target in round 6 before the KO, he was getting hammered and by his own admission said he could have gone down at any time at that point in the fight I think it's fashionable to say Pacquiao just has holes in his technique. But no one has exploited them very well in 12 years since he was a weight drained flyweight, and we're talking about some big big names here so let's be reasonable
Exactly this, people need to stop with the anything JMM does Floyd can do better bull****. Marquez is a offensive counter puncher where Floyd is a defensive one. They both go about countering in a completely different way. Marquez takes a lot of risk where Floyd takes as little as possible. And for the love of god comparing Pac to Hatton? Pac is WAY faster and has a lot more power, Floyd would be insanely careful (he would obviously be favored)
haha please for ****s sake stop making me laugh I was not comparing anyone directly ie:Hatton to Pac Im just saying that stuff like the other night can happen if a fighter who cannot adjust who is very 1D is put in the ring with a fighter who can adjust who has a decent chin ,good ring IQ,can set traps where they can offload power punches floyd and JMM posses all these attributes I DID NOT compare their styles of how they use these skills **** man hope that clears up my point lol
This whole discussion comparing PBF and JMM is Funny. The key thing that both men have in common is the are both excellent counter punchers and master at setting traps for their opp.
