Once again alot of folk seem to be getting a bit carried away by last nights victory. Surely any sensible person wouldnt of given Ortiz a hope in hell against Mayweather and until only his last fight nobody was even thinking about putting the 2 in a ring together because they were leagues apart. Now people are dismantling the event and are trying to show us how Mayweather would do against Pacman based on Ortiz and the way he fights. No chance, Ortiz was never a serious challenge to Mayweather, hes a good boxer, couldnt complain about him taking a Mayweather fight but once again Mayweather had hand picked a limited opponant who just happened to be coming off a good win which had hyped him up a bit more than it really should of which gets people overexcited and brainwashed into thinking hes a match for Floyd. He wasnt. Just like Mosley who we all knew was a fighter way past his prime but a good night against Margarito and everybody was brainwashed into thinking he wasnt shot, was still at his peak and that was the moment for Mayweather to jump in and give him that chance. Fair play to Floyd, hes still a great fighter, typically he took his cheap shot oppertunity just like he does when ever presented to him inside or outside the ring, personally i dont like it and i think hes a good enough boxer to not need to pull little dirty stunts like that but if im honest id be happy for Carl Froch to beat Ward that way if it happened so i cant get too angry. But my point is it was Victor Ortiz, the same Victor Ortiz that people would of laughed at had he challenged Mayweather only a year ago. And to start looking for proof to why hed beat Pacman from within this fight is a waste of time.
It's not a fight to die for, but fun to watch nonetheless. I appreciate the change. I'd much rather see this than watch an elite like Pac or Floyd continue to fight old guys. If Pac had been in there with Bradley and Ko'd him, I would have given him just as much credit as I give Floyd for beating Ortiz. Was Floyd's behavior nice? NO, but this isn't little league and Floyd isn't Mr Nice Guy. Why should he start acting nice when his bad boy persona is what made him successful? Part of why his fans follow him is he causes controversy and that is fun to watch. It doesn't define them because they strictly see it as pure entertainment and that's as far as it goes. One thing Floyd's detractors should appreciate is the fact that he did what he said he would do - press the action. Can't say the same about Mosley, now can we? By the way, a guy named Morales actually did something great. Just reminding people there are other fighters worth talking about.
Sorry, but that's BS. Ortiz is a good fighter, on a strong upward curve. He had good wins/should be wins and beat a top welterweight before fighting PBF without there being hint of a fluke (Yes Baldomir, I mean you....) It's a top quality performance and an excellent win. Better than anything he or Pac done in years.
