It wasn't a robbery like Marquez vs. Pacquiao III, but I believe Trout beat Alvarez.

Watched it earlier instead of the early hours, fan of neither, wanted to watch it wide awake. Had it 116-114 Trout.

But I guess the sport is all about opinions.

Apart from a few good rounds, Canelo didn't control the fight, even the round he scored the knockdown right at the start of the 7th, Trout came back in the round and did enough to win it. Canelo was throwing mostly single shots and making Trout miss as much as possible, however, Canelo was also on the backfoot.

Trout was missing a lot, but he was throwing a lot (more than Canelo) and dictating the fight for the most part. It's impossible to give Canelo rounds if he didnt do enough to win them clearly, a few successful punches in a round and to then sit of and let Trout control the tempo, you have to score them for Trout unless Trout missed 99% of his punches, but he never did, he landed some to, its just the difference in power and sting between both fighters was evident. Alvarez is so far ahead of Trout in that area. Trout never looked like being able to stop Alvarez, but Alvarez seemed more than capable of stopping Trout.

A few rounds I scored even, it was a close fight, for me Canelo's best round of the fight was the 11th. He made Trout miss and he connected with punches in that round more so than any other. Trout looked on unsteady legs a few times, but showed resilience to carry on and not change his gameplan.

Alvarez's power is tremendous, when he lands, it sends you to the other side of the ring. Stiff and crisp punches. But for me, he didnt land or throw enough of them to win the fight and certainly not as clearly as some of the judges. He made Trout miss, but Trout didnt stop trying, and he landed to the body a lot, and most importantly he did set the tempo.

    Trout 116-114

Also the scores being available at stages during the fight for both corners destroyed the fight. Alvarez knew he was up heavily on one score card, and in the last round didn't engage.

Yep i agree bro, It's a fight based on what you like but even when Canelo landed big he often allowed Trout to control the destiny of the round and Trout landed some good punches himself in most rounds.

I think it could of gone either way but that judge was taking the ****. As Paulie said in round 10 he may as well got to bathroom for a break because he will score rounds for Canelo anways.

Trout was destined to lose, Gave to much over IMO. The WBC representation was outnumbering the WBA.

Was it 9 rounds the one judge had Alvarez by? :huh

    I had Trout winning 5
    Alvarez 3
    4 Level

Alvarez just didnt do enough in those 50/50 rounds to sway me and Trout wasn't landing a lot either in those drawn rounds.

Close fight though. But even after Alvarez landed some solid shots, Trout found a way of getting back into the round and evening it up, sometimes even pinching it in my opinion.

    What about you?

I only watched it live, haven't watch it again yet but it did seem to me Trout won convincingly.

He simply outworked Canelo in many of the close rounds.

Trout won for me, Can go either way on many rounds but i just don't think Canelo stamped his authority enough on rounds. Trout often without landing highlight reel shots would still dictate and land nice shots that for me took the rounds.

TBH Trout's taken defeat well, to well IMHO. Just a pawn in this game that's all he was.

Canelo did well must say that. Boxed with some quality but not consistent enough.

I watched this morning aswell on youtube and scored it for trout in a close fight.

To be fair though it's pretty hard to see how effective a shot is on a shitty youtube video, sometimes it's hard to judge whether a shots even landed.

Same here mate. The difference in power was evident. Trout could not compete with that, and he found that out in the 7th. But he recovered, stook to the gameplan, and kept doing what he was doing.

Although he missed a lot (and was made to miss) and he didnt ever really hit Alvarez with anything tremendous (in direct comparison with some of Alvarez's punches) he dictated the fight apart from a few rounds.

It was close but I just felt that Trout threw loads but landed nothing significant, whereas when Canelo landed you could tell the shots had an impact. I'll need to watch it again because the punch stats were different from how I imagined they'd be.

Agree on the open scoring though, it ruins fights.

    "outworked"

he barely landed a punch, canelo was slipping everything, even trout knew he was outclassed, if the fighter doesnt even believe he won, what does that tell you?
