It wasn't the wraps, it was the EYE

Tony came into the fight with a handicapped eye and it played a factor 3 rounds in.

This fight was going exactly how the first did...the ONLY difference was Tonys eye was completely shut 6 rounds in.

He was still wearing down Cotto, but not as effective cause he couldn't see.

I give Margarito credit. I believe if he had TWO good eyes he would have stopped Cotto late in the fight again.

I dont know about stopping cotto. Cotto fought far more intelligently this time around but margarito's eye did him no favours.

No it wasn't! What fight were you watching? The last fight Margo was coming on as early as the 6th/7th round. Also the difference here, although cotto moved a lot, in their first fight, he moved a LOT more. Likewise he never tied up ONCE. He did a completely different tactic this time around. He would come in close to margo in the center of the ring with his gloves up and be right in margos chest. Margos punches didn't have the same effect in close, margos punches are better with a little bit more distance. he also when doing this would push margo back to the ropes and get some shots off. margo doesnt have the power to be effective when his back is against the rope, he needs to be set more.

Compared to how cotto looked by the 9th last time, which was all swollen, he looked pretty okay. He was not breaking down, in the 9th he worked Margo, margo barely landed anything, and when he did his punches just didn't seem that powerful. His punches simply did not affect him much this time around. I dont know why. it gives a lot of credence to those paster rumors.

^ this . Cotto fought a much better fight his time around. He made the right adjustments and really dominated this fight for the most part. You never know what could have happened in those last 3 rounds tho.

**** sakes.. if the fight was going exactly the same way as the last one, why didn't Cotto's face look like dogmeat at the end? Why weren't Margarito's uppercuts causing Cotto more problems? You know damn well why.

Looking at Cotto, the damage to his face was starting to look the same as before. It's hard to fight with only one eye. Margarito's corner destroyed his career. He really shouldn't fight again.

I agree. He couldn't hit Cotto because he had one damn eye. I think he would have put more pressure on and we would have seen an identical fight if Margarito was physically top notch. Cotto couldn't hury Margo

It is obvious that you dont know much about the sport because it was a completely different fight. Different fight plan....lots of correction on Cottos corner....please learn the sport.

If Margarito eye didn't shut I think this fight would go exactly the same way as the last one.

Margo could hit Cotto and they were using 10oz gloves as opposed to 8oz in the last bout

    Pretty much this.

People keep forgetting that in Nevada where the first fight was, the Nevada commission gives you a bag of the stuff you can put on your hands. You aren't allowed to bring pre-made pads like in California. It would have been extremely difficult to cheat in the Nevada fight.

Its easier to fight a smarter fight when a loaded jab isnt smashing your head round after round after round mate

The last 3 rounds Cotto would have out boxed him

Margo wasn't as effective because he was fighting with ONE good eye.

Margo had TWO good eyes in the first fight.

Cotto boxed great to start out, just like in the first fight. Similarly to the first fight, Tony showed signs of wearing Cotto down.

Fact is, a prime Margarito always beats a prime Cotto. Margarito is a damaged fighter. His heart and will are still there, but he has a permanent handicap now.

If anything, this fight proves to me that illegal wraps or not, an Undamaged Margarito always would have found a way to assert his will on Cotto and defeat him.

Margarito had two eyes going into the fight. He himself said the eye was better than ever. Cotto is just the better fighter out of the two. The first fight would have have been just like tonight without the loaded wraps. Stop the excuses.
