LONG lay off and he is old Wilder might get knocked out but Ortiz is past it shot and is inactive He should of fought Ortiz 2 years ago
ortiz is not shot /is not past it . ortiz is the divisions who needs him fighter and fair play to wilder for stepping up to fight him if i was hearn i would be glad i did not have to put joshua in with him
Ortiz will be coming off an 11 month lay off by fight time, on the other hand Wilder hasn't been overly active either lately. He's fought 1 fight, 5 rounds, in the last 16 months while Ortiz has had 2 fights, 19 rounds, in that same time frame. Ortiz is probably on the decline but he isn't shot or badly faded. He's a dangerous heavyweight who is highly rated by everyone for a reason. This is a really good fight between two of the best in the division.
I thought Ortiz looked good in his last fight vs Allen, no signs of any decline. Credit should be given to whoever wins.
It won't matter IF Ortiz has good training camp and will be focused. Wlad was 40+ and 1,5 years off the ring after a loss, and still almost KO'd AJ in a great performance.
Ortiz is far more talented unless he is shot, which I fear that he might be based on his most recent performances, but he also is at a distinct stylistic disadvantage much like Stiverne was against Wilder. Ortiz will eat alive any come forward fighter with skillful counters, with the possible exception being Povetkin IMO. However he is not very good at all at creating his own offense and moving forward. He does not generate offense effectively against fighters with height and reach advantages and especially movers. All Wilder has to do is flick out a jab and move. I believe the rest is already taken care of, considering the judge's scoring in the Spzilka and Washington matches in which he was somehow up when almost everyone other than the judges watching had something entirely different.
This. I like both fighters, but long layoffs affect older fighters more than it does younger ones. Ortiz even when he's active takes a while to warmup in fights.
Wilder will own the referee, judges and boxing commission, plus the commentators..................Ortiz is old as hell, slow as a turtle, does have a good punch and chin, but all Wilder has to do is run like hell and the fight will be given to him. Perhaps Ortiz has been paid to take a dive, but Wilder is used to fighting winos from the alley, they will require Ortiz to come into the ring drunk, watch him blow up a balloon to make sure he is drunk enough, if not, his water bottler will be full of 100 proof alcohol with drugs in it...............
