I'm down for it happening. Usyk, Fury, Wilder, AJ, Joyce, Zhang and Whyte are within 2-3 years of retiring. Even guys like Hrgovic, Kabayel and Parker are no spring chickens themselves. This HW era is ending and there are no promising future prospects. Who's gonna be there for Itauma in 3-4 years ? Anderson and Jalolov ? Buns. I'm fairly positive Itauma is gonna rule over a wasteland if he doesn't Mike Tyson his 20's away and becomes just another guy. So why not make the match up between the best HW of this era and the best Heavy of the next era ?
If Turki puts up the money I could see Usyk vs Itauma going ahead. Still too early for Itauma imho, but when you get an opportunity like that how could you turn it down? Also would Usyk want it? I assume if Turki puts enough money in front of him he would take it and just drop the WBO. But it is a big risk to Usyk legacy and reputation wise, but also huge reward if he catches Itauma now and beats him it would elevate him in the long term as Itauma is looking like the future of the division.
People should be calling for Itauma to fight someone like: Parker, Kabayel, Wardley, Ajagba, or Hrgovic ... , They can get a fight like that made this year, and if he blows even one of those out easily, we can start talking about him and Usyk and 'passing the torch' etc.
