Itauma...Wardley...Parker...Kabeyal...these are the guys Usyk was allegedly afraid of?

They do more than beating the same guys he already beat again. Variety matters in terms of resume, especially if he's going to be compared to the likes of Ali.

So gutted Usyk did not fight Kabayel, one bad showing against Verhoeven and Usyk dropped all those Belts to remove himself from Chamionship level in the Division ! Usyk got the nod to fight Verhoeven in a WBC sanctioned bout after agreeing with the WBC to fight Kabayel next ! I honestly never saw this coming from Usyk and I don’t think many did tbh .

Usyk didn't fight for an entire year just to fight Rico and look horrible. Kabayel would have kicked Usyk's butt that night if he wasn't such a scared duck. QUACK QUACK QUACK.

Usyk would humiliate Itauma. Even an old Usyk.

The new generation has nothing for Usyk.

Usyk's resume could be deeper with some of these contenders yeah but he only seemed interested in the beltholders once he moved to heavyweight and considered them part of 'his' era to go alongside his undisputed cruiserweight reign. Thats why he's obsessed with fighting Wilder to finish the career apparently. He made more than enough money from the few fights he had and probably sees quality more than quantity as significant, beating some contenders doesn't register to him as much as having Joshua, Fury and Dubois twice on the resume.

No, beating the best ranked and historically highest is more important.

Beating them multiple times adds no extra value because he already beat em. Fighting additional contenders does.

Are Usyks wins good? Yes. Would his resume be better if he had fought other contenders? Yes.

But different fight, different night. If no one gave rematches, we wouldn't have Ali-Frazier III, Zale-Graziano III, Bowe-Holyfield III. Leonard- Duran III, etc. It's not Usyk fault that no one was good enough to give him a series.

It's not as though Usyk gave anyone else a chance though is it? Which is the whole point.

Because they didn't really deserve it...with the exception of Parker.

I'd say Wardley also earned it by beating Parker. Kabayel not so much, but still would have been better than a rematch.

It's all for nothing though, because Usyk has more or less retired at this stage. We're in the lolly-scramble phase now

That is not really the period I am talking about. Usyk vacated, and Wardley got a free belt. We are talking about the rematches, and that was beyond that time.

He vacated it to fight Rico instead of defending the belts he already had. Which, while not a rematch, still rather egregious given the inactivity.

Much as I love Usyk as a fighter I'm not going to pretend he didn't hold up the division (willingly or otherwise). He should have been able to fight more contenders, but ultimately chose not to.
