Usyk is right to dodge these fights imo. He's 40 years old and clearly on the decline. Retire with your legacy in tact.

Imagine if he kept going and got KTFO by a fighter of Wardley's calibre. Gross. Like watching Mike Tyson get beat by Kevin McBride and Danny Williams. It's just a bit sad.

Not exactly a murderers row of contenders there. But Usyk is undersized and he is 39. At some point, even underwhelming challengers can become too much for an old great fighter. If Usyk doesn't lose to them he eventually loses to father time.

Usyk was contractually obligated to fight the same few British guys over and over again because he was a foreigner who was getting screwed in negotiations and in the cards. Usyk had to win 9 or 10 rounds to get a split decision over a British fighter with backing. It's not like he wanted to fight them again and again. He beat all 3 of them convincingly the first time, but he got bent over at the negotiating table every time.

No he wasn't, but I think he thought they were a lot better than they turned out to be! I wonder now does he look at their performances and regret his decision.

Delusional. Kabayel struggles with journeymen level fighters like Smakici and Knyba. Plus, he looks like he's eating the other guys in his entourage. Dude looked fat as hell when he got in the ring to face off with Hrgovic. Got emailed a belt and is already in the chilling on the beach and eating bon bons phase.

Usyk wanted to unify the HW division. That was his only goal at HW. He practically begged AJ, and Fury to get into the ring. When you are the B side fighter, standing around and waiting for the A side is how the game is played.

I mean he was in his late 30s and had accomplished his goal of unifying the division. I would be inclined to agree with you if he was holding the belts hostage. But it seems the guy came to the conclusion of I did what I wanted to do, I'm old and I'm surrendering the belts. Which is exactly what happened. On to the next era. His is over.

Would it have been nice to see him fight more guys at HW? Yes, but his time ran out.

Cyrion, if Kabayel is so garbage, why didn't Usyk fight him instead of Rico?

Usyk fighting Moses was always a dumb idea that only casuals and easily manipulated hype train fan boys thought it would be a good idea.

Parker threw his chance away but earned his shot until he need a line of coke and forgot he wasn’t George Foreman.

wardley fight was understandably skipped passed. Beating Dubois would have given it some legitimacy but obviously that didn’t happen.

kabayel was the only man standing that deserved a shot at Usyk.

Usyk been fighting at HW in the amateurs, SHW in the WSB, CW and HW in the pros since 2008 and has never been knocked out, stopped, dropped by a head shot, or even really hurt by one in all that time

And this is despite him fighting at the elite level for almost all that time

Running a murderer's row of KO artists and punchers

Giants and murderous punching giants at SHW in the WSB and HW in the pros

Forging a career fighting in his opponent's backyards and on the road

Already being long past his athletic prime and past his prime throughout his HW reign

And all his opponents during his reign not only being way bigger than him but way, much or younger than him too

And winning all his fights via the application of clean boxing and pure skill with zero use of dirty and illegal tactics and deck-stacking and a career with very soft touches and old men.

    There isn't a single 39 y/o or 40 y/o on Usyk's entire resume

There are only two 38 y/o

There's only one 37 y/o and Usyk was 39 when he fought them

There are only two 36 y/o and he was 37 when he fought one of them

And only four 35 y/o and he was 37 when he fought one of them

Four of the fighters he fought who were 35 or older were low level fighters before he moved up to the world level sans Witherspoon who was a very late notice sub and it was Usyk's official HW debut

Since Usyk moved up to the world level in his 10th fight right up until the first Belly fight at 37 y/o the oldest opponent he fought was Chisora who was 36 and Chisora was still going strong and a real handful long after that

Belly was 36 for the rematch and Rico was 37 but Usyk was 37 and 38 respectively for those fights

He's undefeated since 2009 but it should be 2008

I know it kills so many inside but all the resistance, thirst to tear him down, refusal to believe and deny how rare that is, and mental gymnastics in the world cannot deny how special he is or his greatness :deal:

And you think that makes it justified to fight a 1–0 boxer who HADN'T EARNED A SHOT AT ALL after not fighting for one year? Is Usyk giving you a cut? Seriously, you're a weirdo for caring so much about your dear Usyk that you can justify him doing the Jake Paul and Mayweather bullcrap as champion.

Clearly, you're just a fanboy and not anyone with the mental capacity or free thinking to talk to. You won't change your mind because you're clearly just brainwashed. Bye bye, I will not even try to talk to you again.

I get your point, and I agree with you that older fighters should be allowed to retire undefeated. But Usyk held onto the belts for an additional year after beating Dubois just to fight Rico. He went on interviews talking about a "four-fight plan" after he beat Rico, but he abandoned that pretty quickly. He held up the heavyweight division, and ever since Usyk let go of the belts, we've seen some of the best heavyweight fights. Usyk agreed to the WBC proposal to fight Kabayel in return for sanctioning that terrible Rico fight. If Usyk wanted to leave the sport with grace, he could have retired shortly after Dubois 2 or even Fury 2.

I like how basically every one of the Usyk fanboys in this thread thinks it's fine that Usyk ducked Kabayel because he was too old and shot to fight Kabayel, but if anyone dares to suggest Usyk isn't THE CHAMPION or 1# heavyweight in the world because he ducked and dropped the belts, they will cry and whine. I guess people have their sacred cows.
