Itauma - what now? All that hype for what?

Hrgovic who has been around boxing longer than you, is more knowledgeable than you and has more credentials than you. He said this about Moses in a post-fight interview

You are a nobody by comparison to Hrgovic in terms of boxing credentials.. Correct? What have you done in boxing? You just been watching boxing from your radio.

So your dismissal of Moses is completely unwarranted. Saying he needs major changes??? DKSAB.

He was outphysicalled by a bigger, tougher fighter. Hrgo enforced his rules of fighting on Moses. It took 8 rounds to fully bloom but he stuck the course. Being physically and mentally stronger can derail the best laid plans and talent.

 

Bet it must have killed you having all these British heavyweight world champions the past 10 years or so, as well as all the challengers. Never mind.

 

The weirdos who like to see a "hype train derailed" are just as ridiculous as the ones thinking he's the next Tyson/Ali. People go on about fighters trying to protect their 0, but these types of people are partly to blame for that.

Pacquiao had already been KO'd twice before he even reached Itauma's age. To who you might ask? To Rustico Torrecampo and Medgoen Singsurat. Again, who? Exactly. Lomachenko lost his first pro fight. I bet people were saying the same stuff about Klitschko after the Puritty loss too. Why do people act like a young fighter losing a fight he wasn't ready for is the end of the world? It's like they take some sort of glee from it. It's bizarre behaviour.

I'm not even saying Itauma's going to become a legend/hall of famer (even though it's certainly possible). He might well turn out to be a hypejob, but now is definitely not the time to decide that. Defeats early in a fighter's career can help shape a fighter into who they become. Every fighter has a different path to greatness. They don't all do it like Usyk. This defeat isn't even surprising to me. I felt Hrgovic might be too big a step up, compared to who he's been facing so far, and it showed.

 

My thoughts are the loss is embarrassing considering the hype and expectations

However he was way ahead and was stopped on his feet and didnt appear to suffer a career altering beating.

If he doesn't let it destroy him mentally this was probably the best way to lose. He can point to the first 8 rounds, blame his gas tank and turn it around

 

People are too quick to write someone off

Itauma was winning EVERY SINGLE ROUND and hurting Hrgovic along the way in the process


Conditioning is the easiest thing in boxing to fix

Itauma just needs to pace himself better and probably get a new trainer cause I've never been high on Ben Davison
