It's a little surprising how much hate Andre Ward gets here.

I'll admit, before the supersix I hated Ward. I thought he
was bitchmade. He proved his mettle to me, he deserves
respect coming out of that unscathed.

 

he gets hate because he pretty much lied about every campaign promise he made...like 90% of any politician .... people will always hate someone because of their color...... and at the same time others will only like someone because of their color... 90% of the world is probably racist in some way...sad but true.
heres some facts for you from this white guy

1) fav fighters ever - Ali, Holmes, Foreman, Holyfield
2) fav current fighters - Andre Ward
3) most respected fighters through the big picture- Hopkins, klitschos
4) fav all time tv shows - sanford and son, jeffersons, good times
5) favorite baseball players ever- griffey, bonds, ricky henderson, pete rose
6) NFL team - Chargers
7) NBA- Bulls
8) NHL- NONE
9) opinion on Trayvon - Whehter Zimmerman got punched in the mouth, back of the head, in the nose, or all the above....no way i agree with shooting that kid...whether he is a 6 foot 3 kid or a hooded thug..i dont know him, but i'm not capping someone unless he is halfway through my window trying to get in...and he wasnt...

I got nothing but respect for Ward's boxing skills. . . Although I wish he didn't hold so much. . . But I did get pissed off when he started making up excuses not to fight Bute.

It's just hard to see him make excuses why he shouldn't have to fight the second best 168 pounder, when looking at Froch's resume since 2008. . . Especially when Bute wasn't even trying to have the fight in Montreal. . . .

AND THEN, him refusing to fight his mandatory in Anthony Dirrell, but wanting to fight a rematch with Kessler. . Oh yeah, BUT NOT in Denmark, despite Kessler coming to his hometown. . .

Hate? There is a universal agreement among ESB-members that Ward is a very skilled fighter. I rarely see anyone flat out hate Ward, the way the Klitschko bro's or Roy Jones have insults thrown after them in thread after endless thread. Ward is getting some critizism for the way he fouled against Kessler, and for the way he has handled potential fights with the Dirrell brothers and Bute, but these are legit subjects.

...inconsistent/hypocritical speaker. He lied about Bute "opting out" of the S6, and went back on his "needs to earn his shot" jerk reaction. As for fighting the WBC mando, Anthony Dirrell, we're waiting on an official statement from either team... all that was said so far was on Twitter, with Dirrell saying Ward wouldn't give him a shot and would rather vacate, and with Ward saying not to believe "rumors" and that he was on a mission to get them all belts. Ward also tweeted that the networks wouldn't be interested in a Dirrell fight.

It'll be interesting to see if Ward moves to LHW as part of his future signing with HBO, in order to meet Dawson. At SMW as it is now, it's all Showtime's game to play.

 

Ward is half Irish, mate. And since he is the best at 168 he is under scroutine. It aint hate and it aint racism.

 

Ward is a quality boxer, would love to see him travel though, and I'll respect him more when he realizes he doesn't need the benefit of hometown decisions.

Although the fact of the matter is, since he has a white dad, and a black mom, is that he is just as much "white", as he is "black". . . I don't have that old, 1920's "one drop" mentality. . . Nor do most people today. I wouldn't think most black people would buy into either, since it originated from the racist jim crow laws.

I dislike Ward presently b/c after hanging with Fraud Mayweather he has made boxing and it's fans do his bidding, rather than the other way around. Then again, it's not like he's already fought BHOP or Kessler. He very well could still be rehabbing and his shittalking could very well have been hype to build the Bute fight. We'll see.....as of now though, he's a duck.:-(
