It's a myth that Spinks was scared

I think he was. Bad matchup for him. Holmes was great but by then getting a bit older and heavier. Tall fighter that Spinks with his great speed and double jointed body could escape from and out maneuver. Tyson on the other hand was more powerful than Holms but shorter and super quick himself. Spinks couldn’t escape from him.

A purse of thirteen million dollars would have got me into the squared circle to face Tyson, ok i would have walked in but get carried out with a few less grey cells intact.

Worse in my opinion, I thought Spinks demeanor and body language said I'm in trouble! Going in I didn't think Spinks would win but I thought his skills would let him go a few rounds. He fought like what he was, a blown up light heavyweight nearing the end of his fighting days who no longer moved well in the ring. Tyson would brutally KO him under any circumstances back then

Nothing wrong with, and, it's better to have fear,
    as long as it's controlled.
Spinks didn't appear to have controlled his.
Maybe the reason was knowing his own limitations
as far as his limited mobility because of knee issues.
Realizing that the man across the ring
is all wrong for him physically, and no matter what game plan
he or his trainers implement ,the results will always be the same.
Knowing in his heart he's about to get embarrassed
in front of millions of people, though of course he will be
well compensated for his failure, but still
he is an ATG in his own right, but pride,
    can't help him at all.
Spinks looked extremely tight and uncomfortable
in the ring that night against Mike Tyson.
His eyes looked like a death row inmates
who had worn out all of his appeals
and knowing nothing can change his fate.

He was only 31 at the time. Hardly old.

Anything to discredit Tyson. Tyson moved better than any light heavy who Spinks fought.
