It's a shame it was a fixed fight!

During the golota Ruiz fight, when Norman stone was ejected he whispered to Don King " it's a shame it was a fixed fight" I interpret this to meaning Ruiz wins the fight no matter what.

I am currently watching it it is in the ninth round but I'm pretty sure that golota doesn't walk away with the win, although I'm not sure as I forget how this fight plays out. Ruiz suffered 2 knockdowns, a point deducted away, his trainer being ejected BUT in pretty sure golota gets robbed!

Golota had a weird pattern going, first he couldn't bear Chris Byrd (a belt holder) then he couldn't defeat Ruiz (a belt holder) so what's next Lennox Lewis? So he could be robbed 3 chances at the title??

How many fights like this have you ever seen where the fight was blatantly fixed? Show proof as well, in this fight it was clearly audible by Stoney paired with the gift decision. Disclaimer: I'm not sure if Ruiz gets the nod or the draw but yeah, im still watching it and the fouls are getting out of hand!

It wasn't fixed. It was a close fight that could have gone either way and the title holder got the nod.

It was a fairly close fight. I did think Golota could have gotten the call. I did have him up slightly but it was ugly hard to score mess. I also thought he could have gotten win vs Byrd but Draw was fair. I’ll tell you if Golota got the calls in both of those fights and somehow didn’t find a way to dq himself in just one of the two Bowe fights he’d be remembered so much differently and might even be in the Hof.

Offhand, I can't think of any that were pre-ordained, which would take an agreement on both sides (but I probably will later). But can think of 2 immediately that no one thought about fixing but just organically unfolded that way. And that was the first fight between Jose Napoles and Armando Muniz as well as the first fight between Juan Martin Coggi and Eder Gonzalez. And when i say fixed, it was by the officials who were just not going to let Muniz and Gonzalez leave the respective arenas with the title. Both fights are on youtube and one can see the assists from the referees, timekeepers, corners and commissioners in order to get their man over the line.

Finally someone else who appreciates rewatch after rewatch of The Quiet Man's fine work inside the ring.

I think I'll break out Ruiz' career set I have on DVD and warm up the Curtis Mathis.

    There is hope yet!

I think the way fixed fights work is like this -- the fighters themselves don't know it's fixed. Or it's not so much a fix as it is controlled by the man who is guaranteed to win -- I swear, I've seen an old Foreman fight where Foreman and the ref were both working together to ensure the tomato can of the week made it out of the first round. (conspiracy theory -- someone placed a bet on a round 2 KO)

I’ve listened closely a lot of tine to that whisper…
I’m fairly certain Stoney says “If you screw me I’ll sue you”
Referring to the judges giving it to Golota.

Golota next faced Lamon Brewster for the WBO title and got destroyed!

And that fight (with Ruiz) was a travesty and a robbery. Golota won the fight.

Talking about preordained fixes, there was no way in heck that the second Robbie Peden vs Nate Campbell was not tampered with. There was no way Nate was gonna leave the ring the conqueror! From the official ref to the judges, like Paulie Malignaggi said "in a close fight the one who is more politically involved will get the nod. " Throw in some expletives swearing and yeah, that pretty much sums it up! Home cooking/ brewing / backyard/ home turf advantage... It was a fixed fight.

Another one comes to mind Is Joe Calzaghe vs Peter manfredo: it was stopped so dang prematurely that people were saying it would have unfolded the same way it was happening to. What a shame, the broadcasters had to say that. We were robbed of a great fight!

Why would he scream that if the fight was fixed for his protege to win and he knew it?

Im not quite sure if I interpreted it properly, it's just my opinion. At the end of the telecast the brilliant Jim Lampley disclosed the notion and explained why EXACTLY Norman stone said that! Jim sonned me. That's why he's the best, he squàshed all the speculations. Lol

After Golata knocked Ruiz down he fell asleep and did not do shid.

I cannot stand Ruiz but he won that fight , he simply outhustled the Mental Midget.
