I've been watching some of Andy Cruz's amateur fights, and I think he's the best amateur fighter I've ever seen. His head movement, footwork, skill, and counter-punching ability are all excellent. He's a generational talent. I have no doubt he would win a world title if he went pro. I'd even give him a chance to win a world title in 10 or fewer pro fights. He's THAT good. Which is why it sucks so much that he unsuccessfully tried to defect from Cuba and now is banned from going pro.
Stevenson could outbox him, but the problem is when Cruz encounters someone with a good jab he takes the fight to them and rough them up badly like he did Keyshawn Davis
Man, I just found out about this dude not too long ago. Apparently if he had turned professional, his very first fight would have been against then current champion Muhammad Ali, but he turned down the offer. That only happened one other time, when Pete Rademacher fought Floyd Patterson and then went on to have a less than stellar career. Can't help but wonder how that fight would have gone down, and how things would've gotten shaken up if a guy won the heavyweight championship in his very first pro bout.
Why do people feel a need to lie on the internet? Asanau isn’t on that level, and if they did fight who won it? No but apparently Asanau ‘whooped’ him lol
I think he could turn pro in Cuba. Think he got caught a few times already trying to escape, they are watching him very closely now
not lying though. Asanau beat him few years back. As did Sofiane Oumiha of France. 'ismt on that level' is a lie, cause Asanau is a class act, elite prospect, hes like the belarussian loma, proven top fighter with wins over all the top guys in his weight including Cruz. And you have to factor in the fact eastern euros adapt far better to the pros than cubans
