All these UFC fighters, including their president have been talking alot of **** about Boxing, but we can all see that they were just taking advantage a the last few years that boxing has been doing bad, but now that boxing has finally had a really good year, i barely hear anybody talk about UFC anymore, so there goes to prove that you can fight a dog vs a lion no matter how tough they dog looks.

Boxing the No.1 sport in the world to be fan off, And Im a basketball player llol.

The recent big upsets have hurt the UFC a little.

But maybe MMA forced the boxing men to get the good fights on at last. Or maybe it's a coincidence, but they say competition can only be a good thing for the consumer.

Either way I think both sports will have quiet/purple patches, it's the nature of sport in general I think.

The Ultimate Fighters ratings continue to go down on Spike. Their biggest draw has lost his last two fights (Liddell). Their second biggest draw quit because of their shady business (Couture). They blew their chance to get the best heavyweight in the sport, Fedor. Their 185 pound poster boy Franklin has been dominated twice by a far less marketable Anderson Silva. Their lightweight champion Sherk was busted for steroids and suspended for a year. Their 170 pound poster boy GSP was KTFO by lightly regarded Matt Serra. Their big name Pride acquisitions like Crocop and Shogun have been complete busts. Their overall PPV numbers have been down this year from last.

Yeah, I think it's fair to say 2007 wasn't the best year for the UFC.

The only two good things they have going for them are Rampage Jackson and Forrest Griffin. But Rampage, for all his personality and style is not NEARLY as marketable as guys like Liddell or Couture, and Forrest just isn't consistently good enough to build their product around.

The only other good thing they have going for them is TUF. I don't know where'd they'd be without that show. A big success for them.

The main problem they have is dana white being arrogant and messing up a potential tv deal with hbo or showtime.

The ratings for TUF, while still strong for Spike, having been down the last two seasons. Like any reality show, it isn't gonna be around forever. When it eventually goes off the air, it will be interesting to see how that affects the entire UFC.

I would have to see PPV numbers before saying anything. I would also have to see ratings of the contender vs TUF before commenting on that.

I just don't like The contender. It is a good idea but not put togeth well, IMHO.

The thing is I am a fan of both. This has not been a bad year a UFC. IMO. For example Cro-Cop losing sucks if you are his fan but personallyI like that fact that anything can happen. Why would I pay money to watch a PPV that I knew the outcome was going to be?

The super fight of the last few years was ODH and PBF and that was a bust. Tht fight did not deliver

SSM Vs Cotto was a damn good fight and boxing needed that.

There are boxing fans, UFC fans, MMA fans, and combat sport fans. I'm a combat sport fan. I'll watch a Tae Kwon Do fight is nothing else is on.

The thing about UFC that I think is better that boxing is you can see the big names fight for free and they have more than one household name on a card. Like the card from "UFC Stacked". You will never see that kind of card in boxing.

The thing boxing as undefeated fighters that eventually meet each other and it creates an exciting fight. MMA will never have that because there are so many variables that a person can win or lose by.

MMA wins and losses are way too random.

There biggest hero got KO'd by a arm with no power behind it.

We ***** about PPV's in Boxing but look at the UFC and it's constant PPV's.People are getting sick of paying money to watch two guys either roll around or guy's getting KO'd way too easy.

Dude, that is an exception and it was only on Spike because the event was held in London, England. The vast majority of "big name" UFC fighters still fight on PPVs. Liddell, Couture, Tito Ortiz (unless he's fighting a meaningless rematch against Ken Shamrock), etc. For the most part, the UFC free shows on Spike are no better than regular HBO shows. Hell, Taylor/Pavlik and Calzaghe/Kessler were on regular HBO, so what are you complaining about?? Those were two of the biggest fights of the year.

As for boxing cards, they are definately getting better. This year HBO had that great triple header with Gatti/Gomez, Cintron/Matthyse, and Williams/Margarito. The Cotto/Mosley undercard was VERY strong on paper, and the Mayweather/Hatton undercard looks great as well.

Besides, for the most part the UFC just fills their undercards with fighters from their TUF reality show. If you are a big fan of that show, then sure, you'll think the undercards are great, but in reality they are NOTHING compared to the cards PRIDE used to put on.

Those UFC fighters are big names to casual fans. I am not talking about them. Wow, you named two fights in who long and they were on HBO. One UFC on Spike, which is basic cable, has two fight ofhat rating in one night. If you are a fan. If you are mostly a boxing fan then you would not think so.

True. To people like you and I. My point was that the guys who no NOTHING about MMA, BOXING etc and think UFC is MMA, they know the fighters on the cards. I don't know if it has to do with promotion or what. But I feel that as a die hard fan with knowledge of many fighters your opinion may be biased because honestly, no-one I know knows most of the boxers you mentioned. Just SMM, Gatti and maybe Cotto.
Honestly I am going to have getting people over for the PBF fight because none of them know who Hatton is. But the all know Nick Diaz.

I know but pride is gone now. It's a shame because that was the best show MMA will ever see.
