Cameron v McCracken - this should be a knock 'em down carry 'em out affair. Cameron to fight the 'Bull' McCracken By STEVE KILGALLON - Suff dot co dot NZ - 22nd Sept 2010 Shane Cameron is to fight Australia's no2 ranked cruiserweight, Anthony 'Bull' McCracken, but his sights remain set on the no1 Australasian fighter in the division, Danny Green. Cameron this afternoon announced a November 17 bout against McCracken in Perth for an IBO inter-continental belt. Cameron-McCracken will be the lead undercard for Green's IBO cruiserweight world title defence against American BJ Flores. This content is protected Cameron is convinced that if both he and Green triumph, they will meet early in the New Year for another defence of Green's title. "New Zealand is well overdue a world champion and I am the man to bring it back to New Zealand,'' he declared. "[Green has to] make sure he wins his next fight, 'cos I want him after this.'' After his long heavyweight career stuttered against David Tua 12 months ago, this will be Cameron's first professional fight at the cruiser limit of 90.1kg. Fighting for a regional IBO belt is important because it would give Cameron a ranking with them, mandatory for any title fight. The IBO are much more lightly-regarded than boxing's four main sanctioning bodies. "There were guys in the top five who were not too interested, but McCracken is a worthy opponent and Danny Green's camp are very happy with him, so if I go good against him, it makes it better for me to fight Danny sooner rather than later,'' said Cameron. "It's a big fight for me... it's uncharted territory. All eyes will be on me... I need to look really strong, look the part. There is a bit of pressure but there is an opportunity with it.'' Cameron announced the fight at the long-established Northside Boxing gym on Auckland's North Shore, where he has just become part-owner. Since losing to Tua, Cameron has had a frustrating year, winning by disqualification over John Hopoate in his final heavyweight outing, then outpointing Daniel Ammann at a catchweight between cruiser and heavy on the undercard of Green's last fight, his highly-controversial knockout of Paul Briggs. McCracken has actually lost to Ammann, but still represents something of a step up in stature, with his 13-4 resume including a defeat of Commonwealth champion Dominic Vea and WBA, WBO and WBF regional titles.
should be a good test to see where camerons at imo, he looked sluggish as hell against ammann but couldve been an off night
Yeah, McCracken is a very opponent choice, and it makes for a great fight IMO. Big test for McCracken too, and after the Vea win, if he wins this, he's on the way.
ok, lol. but really if green fights cameron it will be a massive step backwards. cameron has beaten nobody of note. mccracken will be his best scalp if he beats him.
Forsyth flogged McCracken.could have ended it in round 1 but toyed with him to get rounds under his belt watch that and many other Forsyth bouts on you-tube. Adam Forsyth=the truth.:deal should be a entertaining scrap.McCracken-Vea was a pearler.Cameron should win this.
Oops! - left out the word 'GOOD' in earlier post. I'm not even factoring in Green here. Just looking at this (Cameron and McCracken) as a stand-alone match-up with great potential. Yes, Cameron is entitled to favouritism. But rest assured McCracken will come to fight and make Cameron's night hell.
cameron still doesn't come close to matching green's opponents. and it would be a huge step back whichever way u look at it. but maybe these r the type of fights that u want to watch. i know i don't.
You sure? From Greens last 9 fights, which opponent doesn't Cameron come close to? Tell me, how do you think Green would have went against Tua and Ahunanya? Well I'm looking at it from every angle, and I don't see what you're seeing. Is this the fight I want to see? I don't actually care, because Green is history IMO. Green is similar to Mandy in that he makes certain claims which he doesn't and can't meet. There are other fights I'm far more interested in, though if he did fight Cameron, it wouldn't be as bad as many make out. I don't see Cameron on a much different level to Green. They're both fairly robotic, have pretty good power, always have a punchers chance against someone better than them, but also lacking in any real technical skills.
I will watch this fight for sure...it will be a good fight as we all know how tough McCracken is I tend to agree with SOX here... I have always thought Green V Cameron is a good fight down under. Green V Flores is a great fight and those odds are mad :nut
sox, From Greens last 9 fights, which opponent doesn't Cameron come close to? i meant wins not opponents. green has fought for or against world titles/opponents. camerons wins were against absolute nobodies. and except for tua, who the hell does cameron have on his resume. bob mirovic, lol. Tell me, how do you think Green would have went against Tua and Ahunanya? considering they r a different weight class, that is an idiotic comment. and ahunanya has achieved nothing on the world stage ffs. tell me who in the hell ahunanya had beaten, lol. Well I'm looking at it from every angle, and I don't see what you're seeing. how is fighting a guy who has beaten nobodies a good idea.
Eh?? :huh Ok, which This content is protected in Greens last 9 fights does Cameron not come close to? And come short each time. Not to mention what level these world title opponents were at anyhow. Ah, and who does Green have on his resume at CW? Any weight for that matter? You imply that Green has some kind of stellar record compared to Camerons, which is just wrong, as their records aren't to dissimilar. Is it? Wasn't it Greens camp that made suggestions of taking on some heavyweights. In any case, answer the question. (Humour me). :hi: About the same level of opponent Green has beaten. So I guess you think Flores (and Green) have beaten a pile of somebodies? FFS, Green got ass raped by Mandy. :deal
u r wrong. i'm not implying that green has an exceptional resume, just informing u that it is quite superior to camerons. but it is obvious u r clutching at straws trying to pick apart certain things. cameron has beaten nobody. i don't know what u r looking at. he was ko'd by ahunanya who is a ordinary journyman ffs. your hate of green is affecting your judgement. get over it!!!!!
I have nothing to get over, as I don't hate Green. I just don't look at him through rose coloured glasses. :hat
