what would Mays record be if he fought Mosely, Margarito, Clottey, Quintana, and Pac

tell you what much of the criticism Cotto gets is warranted the shitty corner, lack of durability and leaky defense but at least, he had the balls to compete and was conducting himself like a true Welter weight champ.

if Cotto fought all of Mays opponents he would probably still be undefeated.

You have to consider that Floyd came up from 130, so it's unfair to demand that Floyd fight all top guys at 140 and 147. It's only natural that Cotto, coming from 140, will have better resume at this weights. I think he's 140 competetion is good enough, and some fights not getting made was not his fault. However Floyd has been WW since 2005, and even with a one year lay-off, should have fought more top contenders that what appears on his resume.

I just wish when critisizing FMJ we have to consider the circumstances he's in and provide solid basis intead of just showing our biases.

The circumstances he's in? He has much more clout when it comes to matchmaking because he was regarded as #1 but didn't most of the time take the fights fans wanted, so a lot of the blame lies with Floyd.

I am the first to admit that he is probably the most talented boxer of this generation, and he is supremely gifted and would compare favourably with any great fighter (despite what the rose-tinted spec wearers might try and tell you). But is blatently obvious that Floyd has fought below the level he is capable at for large periods of his career. It made him a lot of money, which is good for him, but it's bad for boxing and for the fans.

Why should Floyd get a free ticket at 147 when ODLH won his first world title at 130 but later went on to fight the best at higher weight classes, including right up to 154 to fight Hopkins! It's 8 years since Floyd fought at 130, Pac was fighting at 130 just last year, yet had no problem stepping in with guys at 140 & 147. For comparison, 8 years ago Pac was fighting at 120. I think people are too keen to make excuses for Floyd.

Mayweather would still be undefeated. Margarito is garbage. Clottey isnt active enough. and Mosley is too old and slow.

Now imagine considering Cotto cant even beat guys his own size, what would happen if he moved up 5 weight classes like Mayweather. He'd really be on his bike then

Didnt take the fight fans wanted? Nobody wanted to see him fight Corrales, Castillo or Gatti? Nobody was calling for him to fight Oscar and Hatton? :rofl Must be why those fights bombed eh?

Are you saying he would have done bigger numbers with Margarito and Cotto? Please.:rofl

I am the first to admit that he is probably the most talented boxer of this
Judah and Baldomir were considered the best at welter when Floyd fought them. He also called out Mosley and fought Oscar at 154. Please, enlighten me, in 2006, how many people were calling for Floyd to fight Margarito and Cotto. I'll wait.

Btw, Floyd fought 90% of his career at 130. Oscar fought 4 fights there. No comparison. Floyd is the naturally smaller man.

AS for Pacquiao, besides Cotto, he's beaten Floyds leftovers and a paper champ in Diaz. So I see no difference in the path he took compared to Floyds.

He has much clout when he was at 140? Why blame him if Cotto and Hatton felt they are not ready yet, and Tzyu got beat? I am not critisizing Cotto and Hatton for their decision, why should Floyd get the blame?

147 is another matter altogether and I do agree he could have done better. But expecting him to fight every contender when he himself come from 130 is ridiculous. 3 or 4 top WW is good enough. It is only natural for Margo, Cotto, Pwill, etc to have faught more contenders at this higher weight since they didn't start very low.

No doubt that's a hell of resume. So it's crazy some people calls cotto a bum or b fighter.

As for floyd, he can beat that easily except for shane & pac. Clottey & Margarito is to slow for floyd. But he does have a higher chance of beating all of those names considering floyd's talent & skills. Problem is he doesn't want to take great risk. Had floyd fought them, he would have get the accolades that pac now deserves. He would have been on the higher ranking on ATG list.

Because DLH fought at an artificially low weight. Pac is another matter here. Floyd has been Welter for 4 years, with 1 year lay-off. That's 3 years. I am in agreement with you that he's 147 competetion was poor.

However the TS is making comparision between Cotto and FMJ. Cotto started at 140. It's only natural that he will have fought more contenders at this weight and 147. You can't expect a guy who moves in his 4th and 5th weight class to fight each and every contenders. And for 140, i said that he had a pretty good run there, and him not fighting Cotto, Hatton and Tzyu is not his fault.

why fear anyone if you have otherworldly skill and are the absolute best you should fight anyone at the weight you campaign you cant have it both ways claiming you are the best in boxing and avoiding the toughest challenges stay at 130 then. Mayweather I can see maybe ducking a particular guy but to avoid every tough challenge **** go back to 130.

Cotto is a warrior that's why i laugh when haters keep bringing up he only fights vacated title. Well those competition he had is better than fighting baldomir-judah(TKOby him)-hatton-mitchell and LW marquez.
