I could be totally wrong but it seems to me the way to beat Benavidez is either razor sharp counter punching with a good-great defense OR stopping him from coming forward. Andrade doesnt have any of those skills. Andrade has a decent-good defense and okay counterpunching but he seems to like to LEAD w potshots instead of counter. That is why I originally predicted Benavidez will initially hurt Andrade with some kind of counter which will start Demetrius downfall
Dont forget Inoue Tapales 12/26...and its on a Tuesday! I'm stoked for that cause I'm working and since I'm N America itll be on while I'm at work
Not true at all. A lot of Brits in that weight class. SMW is easily more popular than LHW simply due to Canelo. LHW has Bivol and Beterbiev and they aren't even fighting each other.
Yes, Canelo's popularity is an enormous influence. I remember SMW being popular in the UK when Froch & Cazalghe were in the mix. Who are the popular SMW brits right now? I know of BJS (back in Feb) and I know Eubank Jr has occasionally been a SMW - but the others? I would think that Buatsi (LHW) would be more popular.
I dont know about the UK but I would assume the guys at SMW were fairly more popular than Buatsi has ever been.
Yeah, that's a good summary of Boo Boo. He's a big, awkward guy at LMW and MW - but that won't apply here. I think Boo Boo's biggest, recurring problem is that he takes rounds off. Like really off. He's a fast starter (so was Caleb Plant), but then his intensity level is all over the place and generally trending lower. And at aged 35 he probably can't push the pace for 12 rounds, anyhow. I figure Boo Boo will be in a strict survival mode by halfway and it's a coinflip as to whether he goes the distance.
That's the only fight from this PPV that would ordinarily suck me in, but Punk possibly returning at Survivor Series isn't to be missed for it.
I don’t see a win for Andrade but you never know. My impression is that Benavidez will KO him. But it makes me wonder why Andrade chose to fight Benavidez. Does he see something we don’t?
Benavidez will crack him and finish him around 8 in my opinion, don't trust Andrade's chin nor his resume. Objectively, if Andrade managed to outbox and counterpunch him for a 12 round UD it would be hilarious. Really looking forward to Matias - Ergashev, I will probably go to sleep afterwards (Euro time)
People are invited to quote me after the fight but Ergashev/Matias has been built up as a 50/50 match up. Many in the boxing community will be disappointed to learn it won't be a close fight at all. This will be the best version we see Matias he's taking this title defense as a life and death situation. Ergashev told Matias he won't be alive to see his family (probably at shot for Matias killing one of his Eastern European comrades) but Matias just doesn't want to win this fight, he wants to completely end Ergashev existence and from round 1 Ergashev will have to rely on his distance/using the ring because Ergashev isn't a combination puncher, has a solid left cross and counter upper so he has to precisely get that punch in as Matias walks in. However the issue is there is a mad genius to Matias flat footed squared style, he's constantly catching power shots and is an excellent counter puncher. Matias fights so of course he takes risk throwing 95 punches a round well into the the 8th to 10th round. Ergashev hasn't fought since August 2022. That's a long stretch of inactivity. When Matias won the IBF title this year, he only spent a month in Puerto Rico and went directly back to Mexico to train. Matias has been training 7 months no time off. Ergashev has been training in Michigan. Ergashev only chance to win this fight is by decision. He isn't knocking out or stopping Matias. I know people are hyping up his power but Matias has faced 4 guys who fight similar to Ergashev and dismantled them all to the point they no longer fight or contend. Ergashev won't win the exchange because Matias has superior handspeed and is naturally heavy handed with a great clinch game. Ergashev better throw low bows and illegal shots because Matias is coming to kill and its better off Ergasheg survives another day to be alive. He has to completely keep Matias off him. Matias isn't mainstream yet but he will make his name known on Nov 25th and show why no one wants to mention his name. I'm looking forward to the undercard with respect to Benavidez.
