It's funny how Dirrell gets more hype than Calzaghe here

    Not much bias then :S

Everyone was going to beat Calzaghe and even when he won he got no respect. First Lacy. Then Kessler. Then Hopkins. Then even a washed up Jones was going to beat him. Even when he retired he was a coward for ducking Pavlik & Dawson.

Dirrell has beaten sweet f*ck all and look at the hype he's getting. Unbelievable! :-(

the yanks love to be partisan and hype their boys, even though they're no better than anyone else. I'm afraid we just have to put up with it. It's life. :tired

Only the most hardened boxing fans had even heard anything about him until recently. It was like "andre who?"

The only accurate thing you wrote was about the Lacy fight. The rest is cherry-picking the worst of what people say about Calzaghe and the best of what people say about Dirrell.

I don't see too much hyping of Dirrell it seems that Froch is the favorite amongst the masses on eastside. I think he has a pretty good chance against Froch but that is the unknown as him and Ward are untested at this level.

It's surprising that an active fighter about to participate in an historic tournament creates discussion right now?

Lighten up. He's considered the dark horse of the tourney and nobody's picking him over Calzaghe. No sane person was picking Jones over JC, either. Grow up.

What in God's name are you talking about. He is one of the most respected fighters in British history. He sold out 40,000 seat arenas. And he never beat a great fighter in his prime. What exactly does it matter to you that he doesn't get enough respect in America. Dirrell? Sorry, I missed the time he was on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Is he really that well known. I told a few of me friends the fight against Froch would be good, and they have absolutely no idea who Andy Dirrell is. Wait, is it Andy or Andre?

Calzaghe is retired his hype has worn down Dirrell is no where near as hyped as Calz when Calz was active. You have a distorted perception of things that are going on at ESB atm. Ive seen like one Dirrell thread and that was a couple of weeks ago.

I don't see too much attention for Dirrell, if you're talking about recent attention then of course he will get it, his fight is coming up soon.

Just another failed attempt to continue hyping Calzaghe. Keep hyping all you want, the man is a great fighter with a poor resume for poor excuses.

are you nuts?? Calzaghe was the most overhyped fighter on here in history. When Calzaghe was active (especially his last few fights) idiots had the nerve to say he'd beat prime Jones and prime Hopkins and that he was the greatest british fighter of all time.....one moron even went as far as putting him in the top 50 greatest fighters that ever lived!! if that ain't overhyped I dunno what is.

Dirrell is only being talked about lots recently cause he's part of a tournament that's gonna be huge and he has a big fight coming up in a week for which he holds some stylistic advantages giving him a decent shot at winning if he can stick to a gameplan. ****ing Calslappy nuthuggers
