It's funny how @ one time people here built up Cotto like he was an unbeatable boxer

Funny how now everyone is talking about how bad Cotto was. I still think that Cotto would have taken it to Mayweather. Mayweather isn't as big as Margarito nor does he apply the pressure like him. Mayweather isn't as lethal as Pacquaio who makes everyone he fights look helpless. The verdict's still out on this fight that never was.

Mayeather is all wrong for Cotto. Cotto fights with that high guard and places all that pressure on his front foot. That leaves him unable to to get out of the way of straight rights with regularity. Cotto's best punch is his left hook. However, he needs to be planted to land it effectively. Mayweather could pound him with straight rights before he could throw it or use his movement to keep Cotto from being able to plant.

Believe it or not, if they fought on the inside, Cotto would also be in trouble. He would eat body shots and uppercuts on the inside all night. In the middle of the ring, Cotto gets pounded. On the inside, Cotto gets pounded. Cotto's only shot would be to pin Mayweather against the ropes and rack up activity points. In the end though, Cotto's lack of defense, stamina, and a reliable right hand would spell disaster for him.

cotto had phenomenal timing and accuracy. very high ring IQ and Floyd is perfect for him because Floyd would let Cotto fight at his own methodical pace and Cotto would not really tire in the fight at all. Cotto could catch Floyd coming in and had enough in him to possible take 1 Floyd shot just to land his own. Trust me man, Floyd wouldn't do what he wished against Cotto. It would have been highly competitive.

You're basically saying Cotto would out think Floyd and out counter him as well. That's not happening. It's a pointless debate regardless. The fight will probably never happen.

Cotto had good timing against lesser opponents, but timing would help him against the defense of Floyd. i would think the fight would have been like the Hatton fight with Cotto throwing flurries when he gets PBF in corners but taking shots along the way. While it would be competitive Cotto would eventually tire and run into a check hook or something and be in trouble at which point he'd retreat the rest of the way or be stopped. But your right, it would've been a close fight till late.

He was never considered unbeatable. Everyone knew he had his flaws since the Torres fight. He gained fans for his determination, no nonsense boxing style, and always willing to fight the best.

Do you have to ask that?

The obvious is that sionce Pac beat Cotto, but cotto afterall is garbage, therefore, Pac's win against Cotto is garbage.

Did he ever ask if Corrales is overrated?

Poor Cotto, a collateral damage in his hatred for Pac and his love for Floyd.

Jacory Harris is afterall Ellerbe. Just check his butt, it is still hurting from the stunt he did during the face-off.!

His legs were a bit tangled and not planted correctly when that happened. It wasn't the punch, but his habit of having to plant his feet when throwing. Punch threw him a bit off balance.
